At a recent meeting of the Mechanicville/Stillwater Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness Committee, representatives of the three organizations which have been the recipients of the proceeds of seven annual fundraising walks by the people of our communities were present to honor the committee.

Elks All Star Basketball – by Sandy McBride
It was “community” at its best when the second annual Elks All-Star Basketball Event took place in the Mechanicville High School gym on Saturday afternoon. Planned and organized by Ashley Kucharski and Kaile Kenyon with the aid and support of Mechanicville/Stillwater Elks Lodge #1403, this event gives children with disabilities, challenges and limitations the opportunity to participate in skills-building exercises and drills on the basketball court, and have a whole lot of fun doing it. 37 boys and girls from our local communities . . .

United Methodist Church Cantata – by S. McBride
It was a fitting beginning for Holy Week when the United Methodist Church’s Cantata Choir presented their annual Palm Sunday Cantata, featuring once again the works of Pepper Choplin. This year’s presentation was “Our Father; A Journey Through the Lord’s Prayer”.

Honor Society’s Induction Ceremony at MHS – by Sandy McBride
Twenty-four Mechanicville High School juniors and seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society in a ceremony at the Paul N. Luther Auditorium last Wednesday evening, joining the twenty-six seniors who had achieved that honor last year. Also inducted into their school honor societies for having maintained a scholastic average of 85 or higher were 23 sophomores named to Omega Honor Society; 28 juniors in Alpha Honor Society and 39 seniors who achieved membership in Aristoi Honor Society.
