Honor Society’s Induction Ceremony at MHS – by Sandy McBride

Twenty-four Mechanicville High School juniors and seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society in a ceremony at the Paul N. Luther Auditorium last Wednesday evening, joining the twenty-six seniors who had achieved that honor last year.  Also inducted into their school honor societies for having maintained a scholastic average of 85 or higher were 23 sophomores named to Omega Honor Society; 28 juniors in Alpha Honor Society and 39 seniors who achieved membership in Aristoi Honor Society.

Brown’s Beach Makes a “Splash” Once Again – by V. Gallagher

STILLWATER - It's official after being closed for nearly ten years, the Town of Stillwater re-opened Brown's Beach Saturday, August 30. Town Supervisor Ed Kinowski has been working on this project for years, and he says it\'92s a true example of teamwork that made this mission a reality.

Radiant Peace Tree Lighting – By C. Barton

Schaghticoke-The 2nd annual Radiant Peace Memorial Tree lighting ceremony took place on November 29th at the Schaghticoke Town Hall. Despite the wind and chilling temperatures, crowds of people filled the lawn to participate in the evening’s ceremony and tree lighting, which began at 5pm.  The Radiant Peace Memorial offers people a unique opportunity to decorate a light a memorial tree as a way to  “remember those who can’t be with us this holiday season.” This year, 53 trees, including the large community tree, showcased in the Gazebo, were simultaneously lit following the conclusion of a heartfelt ceremony of music, and poetry which offered a peaceful remembrance of lost loved ones.

2nd Annual Radiant Peace Tree Lighting to be Held in Schaghticoke – By C. Barton

Schaghticoke-The Radiant Peace Memorial Tree lighting ceremony offers the opportunity to “remember those who can’t be with us this holiday season.” The title “Radiant Peace” best describes the sentiment behind the event that was held for the first time in 2013. This year there is 53 trees that will be simultaneously lit on Saturday November 29th at the Schaghticoke Town Hall.

Town of Halfmoon to Hold September 11th Ceremony at Abele Memorial Park

 

HALFMOON - Supervisor Kevin Tollisen announced today that the Town of Halfmoon will hold a Patriot Day Ceremony on September 11, 2014. The ceremony will take place at the Abele Memorial Park on Harris Road and will begin promptly at 6:30pm. The ceremony will include prayer and reflection on the events of 9/11/01, Fire Department and Emergency Service Personnel, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and members from the community.

   Harris Road will be blocked for traffic between Stage Run and the entrance of the Town Hall Complex prior to the ceremony to allow Emergency Responders to make a procession to the ceremony.

 

 

Stillwater Appoints New Police Sergeant – by H. Wessell

 

TOWN OF STILLWATER, August 21 - The Town of Stillwater Police Department, for the first time in several years, has two sergeants.

   In a swearing-in ceremony at Town Hall,  Officer Charles T. Rockwell Jr. Of the Department  was made Sergeant, in particular because of the recent appointment of Sergeant Raymond Cordani as Police Commissioner.
