BALLSTON SPA, June 17 – Back in 1841, 175 years ago, it was a very different world.There had been only eight US presidents. By the end of that year there would be two more. There were only 26 states – Beyond Missouri was the western frontier. The first wagon train across that frontier to the California Territory arrived in that year. Horace Greeley (of "Go West, young man" fame) had just begun publishing the New York Tribune.

Brown’s Beach Re-Opens – by H. Wessell
SARATOGA LAKE, May 28 ñ The parking lot at Brown's Beach was full by late morning Saturday and all day, said Stillwater Supervisor Ed Kinowski, as the redeveloped longtime popular spot for families began its second season. And at that, celebrants were undaunted even with the day's record-high temperatures. Kinowski reported the Saturday attendance at 724.

Fireball Run to Visit Our Area
CLIFTON PARK -, April 6, 2016: Fireball Run, a world-famous television and internet streaming series, will be crossing New York State in late September, passing through southern Saratoga County on September 29/30, 2016. Welcome events are planned in Ballston Spa and Clifton Park as 40 competing teams vie for top honors in solving clues, engaging with historic artifacts and meeting significant figures in our region and nation’s history. Contestants also aid in the search for America’s missing children, and to date 48 children have been found in part by their efforts.
