Paddling against a strong headwind for 16 miles from Schuylerville to Stillwater to Mechanicville, Mark Wells and 75 determined kayakers . . . men and women of all ages and one feisty dog . . . completed the third annual Kayaking4Meso run down the Hudson River. Their efforts raised $9,000 for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation's quest to find treatment and a cure for this debilitating disease. Mark is the director of Kayaking4Meso, and has organized this event each year. His daughter Linda was diagnosed with meso at the age of 15. Rarely found in young people, mesothelioma is most often associated with prolonged exposure to asbestos.
