Troop 1891 Recognizes Girl Scout Week – by C. Barton

Girl Scout Troop #1891 based in Schaghticoke has plans to recognize and honor the week that commemorates the history and mission of Girl Scout Troops across America. The Girl Scouts began in 1912 by founder, Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low. Low officially registered the organizations first 18 Girl Scouts in her hometown of Savannah Georgia on March 12th 1912.  Each year the Girl Scouts celebrate the week that includes March 12th with activities, events and projects that reflect the mission of the organization and Low's vision of, “building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.”

Valley Falls Grant for Thompson Mill? – by C. Barton

Valley Falls- the Village of Valley Falls with the assistance of the Hoosic River Watershed Association (HooRWA) and the Rensselaer Land Trust (RLT) has applied to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfield Assessment program for a grant that will test the old Thompson Mill property.

Hoosic Valley Showcases Musical Talent – by Christine Barton

RENSSELAER COUNTY -On January 29th the All County Winter Festival, hosted by the Rensselaer County School Music Association, was held at Averill Park High School.  In addition to other participating schools throughout Rensselaer County, Hoosic Valley had 22 students selected to participate in various musical ensembles throughout the day’s events.
