BALLSTON SPA, October 22 –  “He and my office work in conjunction with... everything,” stated Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo of the  Director of the Office of Emergency Services,  Carl Zeilman. “We maintain the system, we expand that system, working together,” added Zeilman. “Our offices work together on the pre-planning for the County,” including the new, countywide  Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), which was created this year.

Ragner Relay at Brown’s Beach – by H. Wessell

One of the Ragnar Relay Races held across the nation each year   passed through the Town of Stillwater about dawn on Friday, September 25, using a new staging area – the Brown’s Beach parking lot – for its 45 vans at the start of one leg of its regional race from Saratoga Springs to Lake Placid. “Thank you for letting us use Brown's Beach this year,” wrote Race Director Katie Aston Seely to Town Supervisor Edward Kinowski. “We are thrilled to be at such an iconic spot – and I'm sure the sunrise photos will be great.”

Brown’s Beach Attracts 75,000 Visitors – H. Wessell

TOWN OF STILLWATER, September 17 – Stillwater Supervisor Ed Kinowski extended a "HUGE Thank you to all those who visited and enjoyed the old style ‘fun in the sun' at Stillwater's Brown's Beach!   There is no doubt, with well over 75,000 visitors, Brown's Beach became a Mecca for beach goers in the Capital area and beyond.  Our park facilities offered a daily clean, groomed, sandy beach, two large picnic areas, a canoe and kayak launch area, a Marina for up to 120 slips, the delightful Dock Brown's Tavern and the elegant Nest for sleeping accommodations. "

round Lake Preserve Opened – by H. Wessell

MALTA, September 12 – Last Saturday’s formal debut of the Round Lake Preserve was to many an idea whose time, finally, had come.    To the farmers who cared for its land for decades, it was literally, and deeply felt, an answer To prayer.

   At the long-awaited ribbon cutting at the preserve, located off Rte. 67 just west of the Malta-Stillwater line, Malta Supervisor Paul Sausville, welcoming participants, lauded Larry Sweeney, the landowner who made it all possible by partnering with the Town of Malta and the private land preservation agency, Saratoga P.L.A.N. (Preserving Land and Nature).
