Stillwater to Vote on School Renovations

STILLWATER – The Stillwater Free Library is now a position to recharter as a school district library. A public vote on May 17 had decided this in order to increase funding. Library director Sara Kipp reflected on what this means for both the library and the community.

Stillwater Central School Budget Vote – by V. Gallagher
STILLWATER – On May 17, Stillwater Central School District residents will vote on a proposed $23,989,459 budget for the 2016-17 school year. The board of education unanimously adopted the budget proposal at its meeting on Tuesday, April 5. If voters approve the spending plan, the projected tax levy—the total amount of money a school district can raise through property taxes—would increase by 4.81 percent. This increase remains below Stillwater’s maximum allowable tax levy increase as determined by the state’s tax levy cap formula.

Vote on City Mayor’s Secretary
MECHANICVILLE MARCH 2- The City Council considered changes to the position of Secretary to the Mayor. Under the change to the City Charter the position or positions would be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Mayor. Dennis Baker said at the meeting that the other departments have control of their own deputies.
