In the wee, small hours of November 11, 1918, in a railroad car on a siding in the Compiegne Forest in France, about 40 miles north of Paris, representatives of the warring factions in World War I concluded three days of negotiations and signed an agreement to bring an end to four years of bloody war. Fighting would cease at 11 a.m. French time on that morning. . . the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

April 9th New York State Yellow Ribbon Day
HALFMOON – On Thursday April 9th The Halfmoon Town Hall held a Yellow Ribbon Day Ceremony commemorating the service of military personnel who keep us free and our way of life secure. This event is held annually to honor U.S. military personnel and veterans.

The annual World Day of Prayer gathering in our communities will be held on Friday, March 6, at the All Saints on the Hudson Chapel in the Parish Hall on Grove Street in Mechanicville, in the former Assumption Hall, at 1 p.m.
