2015 Thanksgiving Food Drive

MECHANICVILLE NOVEMBER 20- There were no cars in the showroom at Toyota of Clifton Park . It was filled with boxes and cans of for, and turkeys. Enough food and turkeys to feed 825 families. Michael Raucci, the General Manager of Toyota of Clifton Park and the man behind the Thanksgiving Food Drive, pointed out that families in Mechanicville, Stillwater, Halfmoon, Clifton Park, and Waterford will have turkey dinners thanks to the generosity of the community.

Elias M. “Lydie” Carey – 68

MECHANICVILLE – Elias M. “Lydie” Carey, 68, of Broadway, died Thursday, Nov. 19th, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy, in the loving company of his family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at NOON at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville.  Burial with Military and Police honors follow at Saratoga NationalCemetery.

Calling hours at the North Main Street Church on Sunday from 2-5 PM.

Paul J. Higgs – 55

MECHANICVILLE – Paul J. Higgs, 55, of No Main St., died suddenly on Wednesday, November 19th at Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 25, 1959, he was the son of Kathryn Barthlow Higgs of Carrollton, GA and the late Paul Higgs. A self taught chef, Paul had worked at Roma Food Imports in Latham for the past 20 years and previously at the Ramada Inn in Schenectady.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday at 7:00PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville, NY 12118. Calling hours will be held prior to the service on Sunday from 4-7PM at the funeral home.

Mechanicville-Stillwater Breast Cancer Walk Raises $48,000

MECHANICVILLE NOVEMBER12- Mechanicville Stillwater Breast Cancer Walk President Amy Pickett announced that over $48,000 was raised this year. She made the announcement at the committee's annual banquet held Wednesday night at The End Zone.This total exceeds the previous year's total. She singled out the Mechanicville Girls Soccer team for raising $2,390.85.

Mechanicville Students Honor Veterans – by Sandy McBride

The hallways all the way from the entrance to the gymnasium at Mechanicville Elementary School were a picture of patriotism last Wednesday as the students prepared to welcome honored guests to their annual Veterans Day celebration.  Drawings of flags and patriotic sayings, letters to and pictures of family military members and veterans, all hand-drawn and hand-lettered by the kids, presented a meaningful and colorful greeting to the arriving guests.
