GSD PUP 01German Shepherd Puppies - These babies are may be pure breed shepherds. Mom was a smaller German shepherd(Mix?) and daddy was a pure breed German Shepherd that lived next door. The owner of the mother kept her but didn't want the pups so he gave them to the shelter down south. They are now about 9-10 weeks old up to date on shots and de-wormed. Gypsy01Gypsy - Gypsy came in with her kittens when they were pulled from a local kill shelter. Her kitten are all safe and sound but she is still waiting for a home. She is a love bug and really just wants a warm place to curl up in and a nice lap to sit on. If you are looking for a very sweet baby girl then please come and meet Gypsy. Local Student in Peer Tutor at Hamilton College

Clinton, N.Y. – Emily E. Moore, daughter of Eva and John Moore of Valley Falls, and a senior at Hamilton College, is serving as a peer tutor in the Quantitative & Symbolic Reasoning Center (QSR) at Hamilton this year. The mission of the QSR Center is to support students in the development of their academic skills, and to foster collaborative learning and intellectual growth.

Local Students Honored as Hudson Valley Community College Foundation Awards Scholarships for Incoming, Current Students

TROY, NY (11/17/2014)(readMedia)-- Nearly 100 Hudson Valley Community College students received honors and scholarships at the annual Hudson Valley Community College Foundation Scholarship Reception on Friday, Nov. 14.

Each year, the college Foundation recognizes students who were awarded scholarships this past year as well as the donors who make these scholarships possible. The reception took place in the McDonough Sports Complex.

Kathryn Trainor of Clifton Park, NY, Earns Empire 8 Conference Co-Champion Title with Nazareth College

ROCHESTER, NY (11/13/2014)(readMedia)-- Kathryn Trainor of Clifton Park, NY, earned the Empire 8 Conference co-champion title with Nazareth College's women's soccer team. Nazareth and Ithaca met for the 10th time in the finals of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament for women's soccer with an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament on the line. For the sixth time in that stretch, there were two winners. The Golden Flyers and the Bombers played to a 0-0 tie and were declared Empire 8 co-champions. Nazareth then gained the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament by virtue of a 4-3 advantage in the post-game penalty kick session.

Mechanicville Stillwater Breast Cancer Committee Raises $46K

MECHANICVILLE NOVEMBER 12- On Wednesday evening it was announced that the Mechanicville Stillwater Breast Cancer Walk Committee raised a total of $46,000. Among those who made this a success was the Mechanicville Girls Soccer team. For the 4th consecutive year October was "Pink OUt" month. This year the team raised $4,445 .

Sherman’s March to the Sea – By S. McBride

Union forces under General William Tecumseh Sherman had taken Atlanta in the early days of September, 1864, but the defending Confederate Army of Tennessee under General John Bell Hood hadn’t gone far.  They encamped south of the captured city while Hood made plans to lure Sherman away from Atlanta and into battle in the field.  Indeed, President Jefferson Davis had told cheering crowds in Georgia and South Carolina that “I see no chance for Sherman to escape from a defeat or a disgraceful retreat”.

November - The following agenda items anticipating passage at the County Board of Supervisors November business, November 18, include a new substation of the Sheriff's Department.   - Authorizing a lease of space negotiated by the Town of Wilton and the Wilton Mall, for a 920-square foot Sheriff's Department substation, for five years with an option of renewal for five. (He quipped, "The rent, good job Sheriff, is a dollar a year, so we're happy with that.")

Rooney Signs Letter of Intent

SCHAGHTICOKE NOVEMBER 14- At study hall on Wednesday morning, John Rooney signed his Letter of Intent to attend Division I Hofstra University next year. He was not alone when he signed the Letter. Friends, coaches, teammates, teachers and family were with him. Rooney will play baseball for Hofstra starting in the spring of 2016.

SACC Board Accepting Applicants – By J. Dugan

The Stillwater Area Community Center is seeking applications for open positions within its board. The all-volunteer board oversees SACC’s daily operations and each board member brings his or her unique skills and talents to the table. All interested parties should submit a letter of interest and resume no later than November 28. Elections will take place on December 11 from 5pm to 7pm.

2nd Annual Radiant Peace Tree Lighting to be Held in Schaghticoke – By C. Barton

Schaghticoke-The Radiant Peace Memorial Tree lighting ceremony offers the opportunity to “remember those who can’t be with us this holiday season.” The title “Radiant Peace” best describes the sentiment behind the event that was held for the first time in 2013. This year there is 53 trees that will be simultaneously lit on Saturday November 29th at the Schaghticoke Town Hall.
