Arthur Joseph Overocker, Jr. – 79

STILLWATER - Arthur Joseph Overocker, Jr., of High Street passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 79.
Born in Schaghticoke, August 24, 1936, son of the late Arthur and Mary (Lesson) Overocker, Sr., he was a 1954 graduate of Stillwater Central School. Thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served four years as a fighter aircraft mechanic.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016, at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, at All Saints on the Hudson Church, Stillwater. Burial with military honors will follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery.

STILLWATER – Kathi A. Blinn, 63, of Major Dickinson Ave., died Monday, March 28, at Albany Medical Ctr. in the loving company of her family.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday from 4-7 PM at Stillwater United Church, 747 Hudson Ave, Stillwater.

Eighteen hundred and froze to death is an expression heard now and then in speaking facetiously of a year whose date cannot be recalled, but that year in reality was no subject for joking. Weather wise it was probably the worst year this section of the state has ever experienced. New England, Eastern New York, and Pennsylvania all suffered from the freak weather. Records are lacking for it was before the Weather Bureau had been instituted.

Stillwater Police arrested Constance L. Rock (age 52) of Vermont and charged her with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree (misdemeanor) following a vehicle stop on Hudson Ave for speeding. She was processed and released to appear in Stillwater Town Court. The arrest was handled by Ptl. David Devito.

Stillwater Police have arrested Lisa W. Czuwala (age 38) of Stillwater on a Bench Warrant for Mechanicville Police. She was turned over to their agency. The arrest was handled by Ptl. Alex Dunn.

Stillwater Police have arrested Justus J. Cassidy (age 21) of Stillwater and charged him with Criminal Mischief (misdemeanor), Endangering the Welfare of a Child (misdemeanor) and Aggravated Harassment (misdemeanor) following a domestic incident at a residence. He was arraigned in Stillwater Town Court and released with an order of protection served against him. The arrest was handled by Ptl. Paul Pecor.

Stillwater Police have arrested Paul J. Sicko (age 70) of Clifton Park and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration (misdemeanor) following a vehicle stop on Hudson Ave. He was processed and released to appear in Stillwater Town Court. Arrest - Fernet

On Monday, March 14, 2016 PO Mike Dilbone while on South Street in the Village of Waterford arrested MICHAEL E. FERNET, 21, OF 2 SOUTH STREET, WATERFORD, knowing that a felony warrant of arrest had been issued for Desertion from the Military.  FERNET was processed and then taken to the Saratoga County Jail where he is being housed until he is taken into custody by the Military.

Arrested -  Rosario Capasso

 

On Tuesday, March 15, 2016 PO Dan McGreevy arrested ROSARIO CAPASSO, 20, OF 15 SARATOGA AVENUE, WATERFORD, NY and charged him with SEXUAL MISCONDUCT AND ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD. The defendant allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse on numerous occasions with a 15 year old female and allegedly provided alcohol to the 15 year old female. CAPASSO was arraigned in Waterford Justice Court by Justice Nancy Sunukjian and was released.

On Saturday, March 19, 2016 at about 3:30 AM Sgt. P. O’Connell observed a vehicle commit several VTL violations. Upon stopped the vehicle and through investigation it was ascertained that the operator, TIMOTHY J. PICHE, 29, OF 75 HUDSON RIVER RD., WATERFORD, had been drinking. The defendant was arrested after a chemical test showed a B.A.C. of 0.13% alcohol. The defendant was charged with:

Improper right turn

Failed to keep right

Driving on the shoulder

Driving with .08 of 1% or more alcohol

Driving while intoxicated

The defendant was issued UTTs and released and is scheduled to appear in Waterford Justice Court on April 7, 2016 at 6 PM.

On Friday, March 18, 2016 at about 2:15 AM PO Matt Gibbins conducted a traffic stop after observing violations of the VTL. Upon investigation it was determined that the operator, MELEAH LAUREN WRIGHT, 34, OF 12A PHEASANT RUN, WATERFORD, had been drinking. PO Gibbins advised the defendant she was under arrest at which time the defendant resisted by refusing to be handcuffed. Eventually the defendant was brought in and refused to submit to a chemical test for intoxication. The defendant also refused to be processed as required by law. The defendant was charged with the following:

Driving while intoxicated

Resisting arrest

Obstructing governmental administration

Reckless driving

Refusal to take a breath test

Failed to keep right

Driving on the shoulder

Failed to comply with a lawful order

The defendant was arraigned in Waterford Justice Court by Justice D. Fusco who remanded the defendant to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $500.00 bail/$1000.00 bond.

TOWN OF STILLWATER, March 17  – Chazen Companies engineers Vice President Joseph Lanaro shared with Town Board members a provisional drawing of the pavilion that has been the desired next step in the revival of historic Brown’s Beach on Saratoga Lake, now a Stillwater Town Park.
