John Mehan is a life-long resident of Stillwater.  He was raised in the ‘South End’ of Stillwater, the second son of Dave and Saraetta Mehan.  Raised with siblings Dave, Tom, Fran, Mary Jo and Marty, John proudly graduated as a scholar athlete and member of the legendary Class of ’59.

Christopher Braim Named Member of SUNY Delhi's Professional Golf Management Club

DELHI, NY (04/23/2013)(readMedia)-- Christopher Braim of Stillwater, NY, has been named a member of SUNY Delhi's Professional Golf Management Club for the 2012-13 academic year.

Braim is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business and Professional Golf Management.

The Professional Golf Management Club is one of over 50 recognized student organizations found on the SUNY Delhi campus. The college continues to seek opportunities in providing students with academic support outside of the classroom. The Professional Golf Management Club is a student-run organization with a purpose to promote fellowship among its members through golf-related activities. Students attend tournaments on a regular basis, such as a trip to the United States Golf Association in New Jersey. Members also plan and implement fundraiser and community service activities that foster their enjoyment of the game while enhancing their education.

There have always been stories about the Stillwater Area Community Center being haunted. There have even been people who claim to have seen a man on the second floor, or who have heard strange noises, like someone walking around upstairs. One woman even claims to have been locked in a room that she knew was unlocked when she went in. In addition, there have been accounts of basketballs rolling around after they had been stationary for quite some time. With all of these stories buzzing around we had to find out the truth, is S.A.C.C. haunted?

Will the Town Buy Brown’s Beach? – By Harold Wessell

TOWN OF STILLWATER, March 7 -- Town Supervisor Edward Kinowski is seeking to have some conversation with townspeople, about whether they would like to see the Town purchase a long idled, favorite family spot for Stillwater, Mechanicville, Malta residents: Brown's Beach.

The Supervisor first asked the question at the  March 7 Town Board meeting, which had low attendance due to the weather, about any thoughts of again enjoying "a little jewel up on Saratoga Lake, known as Brown's Beach," should the Town  entertain an option to purchase it.

Good news, and more good new in Village’s audit – By Harold Wessell

VILLAGE OF STILLWATER, December 18 The Village received on this day its independent auditor's report - and one it was happy to see.

The audit on fiscal year 2012 in the twelve months ending May 31, 2012  was conducted by the BST accounting firm, which has offices in Albany. William Freitag of the firm presented the report to the village board.

Stillwater Board of Education – Tuesday Nov. 27th Program Forum

Nov. 20, 2012 - The Stillwater Board of Education will hold its first program forum, “Technology Integration in Our Schools,” at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27 in the Stillwater Middle School cafeteria.

At the forum, residents will learn about how the Stillwater Educational Foundation helps support opportunities for Stillwater students and staff, how students are using technology in the classroom, specifically with the district’s One-to-One iPad Program, and an overview of the district’s Technology Plan.

All residents are invited to attend.

Stillwater Town Board 11-01-12 Town Of Stillwater Supervisor Budget Message – By Harold Wessell

Stillwater Supervisor Ed Kinowski received an email from Malta Parks, Recreation and Human Resources Director Audrey Ball recently, wondering if some Stillwater folks, especially those along the town's multi-use trail,  would like to sit in on her town's informational meeting offered by the Sheriff, on organizing a local Neighborhood Watch.

   She had seen reports in the Express of vandalisms in Stillwater, and wondered if townspeople in Stillwater might be interested in hearing more about Neighborhood Watch, by attending a meeting already set in Malta.

Kinowski said he thinks folks along the Town's multi-use trail will be very interested.

Stillwater Central School/PTA and Regional Food Bank Team Up

STILLWATER-- Stillwater Central School District is teaming up with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York to start a new BackPack Program this fall. The program is designed to provide 30 qualifying Stillwater students with backpacks filled with nutritious food each week. The district is seeking financial and/or food donations through the Regional Food Bank and volunteers to help pack and transport the backpacks.

   The bags will be packed each week by volunteers and discreetly distributed to participating children every Friday afternoon. One hundred percent of the donations go toward buying food for Stillwater students.

How can I help?

To make a monetary donation, go directly to the Regional Food Bank's website at http://www.rfbneny.com to donate. Please be sure to indicate that you would like the funds to be directed to the "Stillwater BackPack Program."

If you're interested in volunteering your time to pack or transport the backpacks, please contact PTA Co-President Kiki Wagner at kikimwagner@gmail.com.  The BackPack program was started in 2007 and is now available at 30 schools in 10 counties throughout upstate NY. The program serves more than 600 students a week.
