MECHANICVILLE - Earlier this fall, the 2014 Mechanicville High School varsity girls soccer team was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with a Team Academic Award for having a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.90 for the 2014-15 academic school year. The team was one of only 400 from throughout the country to be recognized with this distinction.

TOWN OF WATERFORD, November 3 – The Town Board heard Gunnery Sgt. Roman, Toys for Tots coordinator for the Capital Region, which cover twelve counties, as it begins its annual drive. Last year they were able to reach out to 114,000 kids, he recalled.

Schaghticoke-The Hoosic Valley Community Church at 2024 NY 40 in Schaghticoke is once again a participating drop off location for this years Samaritan’s Purse-Operation Christmas Child project. The church has been a collection point since 2008. Operation Christmas Child is one of many projects organized through Samaritan’s Purse which is a nondenominational international Christian relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to victims of war, natural disasters, disease, family poverty and persecution in more than 100 countries.

On Sunday November 8th at 2:00pm, the Waterford Public Library welcomes the Lost Radio Rounders, for a program called "Home of the Brave : Songs of Soldiers and Sailors" This program features patriotic songs from the Revolutionary War to WWII, honoring our nation's defenders. STILLWATER OCTOBER 28- Since 2003 the Stillwater Police Department has taken in 4,000 used cell phones. These phones are restored and given to victims of domestic violence in the area. The facts about domestic violence and its damage were the subject of the Stillwater Police Dept.'s annual news conference.
