Celebrations Committee Annual Fall Festival:
HALFMOON - It was a beautiful, but breezy fall afternoon at the Halfmoon Town Park on Saturday, were the Halfmoon Celebrations Committee held its 6th Annual Fall Festival. More than 30 organizations, town councilmen, businesses and fire departments kicked of the celebrations with a parade down RT. 236 starting at Knox Woods and ending in the Town Park. The Halfmoon Celebrations committee this year went with the Wizard of Oz theme; it was a big hit with the kids and helping doing a little sing along to get the crowd into was done by The Clifton Park Halfmoon Fire Department’s Chief Arthur Hunsinger. Grand Marshal this year was Norma Morris life-long resident and supporter of the Town of Halfmoon.

Thousands Attend 2014 Tugboat Roundup – by M. LeMay

WATERFORD- Friday September 5th was the kickoff of the fifteenth annual Waterford Tugboat Round-Up. Twenty plus tugs of every shape and size made their way up the Mohawk River. The visitors cheered on the tugs, owners and passengers before they docked along the Erie Canal near the Waterford Visitors Center.

   Friday evening started the three-day festivities filled with vendors set up along the Erie Canal. There was something for everyone; fun & games for the kids, pony rides, petty zoo, plenty of food choices provided by many local non for profit organizations, music and vendors selling things from handmade crafts to pocketbooks. An added bonus this year up on Lock 2 was a boat show sponsored by The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County, exhibitors where Anderson Boats, Smith Boys & Mohawk Valley Marine.

Paul Tonko Takes Walking Tour of Waterford – by M. LeMay

 

WATERFORD AUGUST 14 –Congressman Paul Tonko, Chamber of Southern Saratoga County President/CEO Pete Bardunias, Chamber Ambassadors, and members of the Waterford Community Business Alliance took a stroll down Broad Street to see firsthand the hardworking businesses and business owners of downtown Waterford. First stop on the tour was The Dessert Tray, owned and operated by Tracy Zordan. Tracy has owned The Dessert Tray for a little over a year now but has been making desserts (her passion) for years. She chose Waterford as the location for her business because of her ties to the community. Tracey has lived in Waterford most of her life and is also a kindergarten teacher at the Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School.
