Changes at Brown’s Beach – by H. Wessell

TOWN OF STILLWATER, May 19 – The Stillwater Town Board approved a new contract with Time Warner Cable when the company was on the brink of becoming  part of a new company, also including Bright House Networks,  called Charter Communications. The merger took effect when okayed by the Federal Communications Commission on May 6.

GE Settlement Will Get County Water Out of Debt – by H. Wessell

BALLSTON SPA, May 11 – Following an Executive Session for the purpose of discussing litigation, the Saratoga County  Board of Supervisors Law and Finance committee recommended authorizing a settlement in 2011 litigation, just reached,  against the General Electric Company for damages associated with the dredging of PCBs from the Hudson River.

Malta to Lower speed Limit – by H. Wessell

MALTA, May 2, 2016 – The Town of Malta has over many years fielded numerous resident requests to petition the state Department of Transportation for speed limit reductions and other traffic control changes. Nearly all cases faced  routine denials.    Supervisor Vincent DeLucia and several Town Board and staff members recently took the concern to Albany in person, with direct support from Round Lake Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner, along with other area legislators.

Stillwater Town Board Meeting – by H. Wessell

TOWN OF STILLWATER, April 21 – The agenda for the April 21 meeting of the Stillwater Town board dealt primarily with five matters up for vote: Scheduling a public hearing to consider extending the Franchise Agreement with Time Warner Cable;  Hiring of two Replacement Police Officers; temporarily waiving the Town Noise Ordinance for a one-time musical event at Brown’s Beach in May; appointing a Chairman to the Zoning Board of Appeals; and scheduling a Public Hearing to consider extending the franchise agreement with Time Warner Cable
