Tomhannock Reservoir Clean Up – by C. Barton
Tomhannock Reservoir- On Saturday April 16th from 9am to noon the Rensselaer Land Trust (RLT) in partnership with the Hoosic River Watershed Association (HooRWA) will be holding the annual Tomhannock Reservoir Shoreline Cleanup Day. The mission of the RLT is to “conserve the open spaces, watersheds and natural habitats of Rensselaer County for the benefit of our communities and future generations.” Both organizations partner annually with the local community to dedicate a day each year to clean up the shoreline of one of the areas major water sources.

City Receives $4 Million for Reservoir
MECHANICVILLE JANUARY 20- Mechanicville Mayor Dennis Baker announced that Mechanicville has received $4 million in grants and loans for work on the reservoir. These monies come from the New York State Department of Health. The grant is for $2 million.

Mechanicville Reservoir Still Below Normal
MECHANICVILLE MAY 27- Water Treatment Plant Supervisor John Zullo reported that the reservoir as of Wednesday morning was down 2 feet below normal. Rainfall for the year is about 6" below average. The rain on Wednesday afternoon was about an inch so the reservoir is still down 5". As of Wednesday morning May's rainfall had been .4" compared to 2.2" last year.
