SUNY Oswego announces August graduates

OSWEGO, NY (09/23/2015)(readMedia)-- Several area residents completed their baccalaureate studies at SUNY Oswego in August 2015.

A student who graduates with honors is indicated by the traditional Latin phrases summa cum laude, with highest honor (grade averages of 3.8 to 4.0); magna cum laude, with great honor (grade averages of 3.6 to 3.79); and cum laude, with honor (grade averages of 3.30 to 3.59).

Champlain College Welcomes Elizabeth Fraser to the Class of 2019

Dennison Farm Tomatoes to be Used in Local Sauce – by C. Barton

SCHAGHTICOKE -  Denison Farms; a local 164-acre farm located in Schaghticoke has recently been added to the list of tomato suppliers for Casa Visco sauce products. Casa Visco, located in Schenectady, began in 1945 when the Viscusi family started Viscusi Wholesale Grocers as a small grocery business. Demand for the homemade sauces grew and eventually they began selling specialty sauces.  Now a third generation family business, they rely on distributors from across the country for the ingredients to put in their sauces. The business, for decades has purchased many of their produce from California. While this will still continue, Casa Visco has expanded their list of suppliers to include local produce grown from local farms, Denison farms being one of them.

Area students earn Deans' Awards at SUNY Oswego

OSWEGO, NY (08/12/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Oswego has made Deans' Awards to a select group of students who are starting at the college in fall 2015.

The scholarships are $6,000 over four years. For non-New York state students, the total award can increase to as much as $38,000 in combination with a Destination Oswego scholarship.

Area SUNY Potsdam Students Complete Spring 2015 Internships

POTSDAM, NY (08/12/2015)(readMedia)-- Nearly 250 SUNY Potsdam students completed internship placements at companies, non-profits or campus departments in Spring 2015.

SUNY Potsdam's internship program places students with employers whose interests align with their studies. Each student intern has a faculty sponsor, and earns between 1 and 12 credits toward their degree requirements.

Kathryn Daley Joins Tau Phi Zeta Honor Society for Veterinary Technology Students

Daley graduated from Mechanicville High School in 2011 and recently graduated from the Veterinary Technology Bachelor of Science program.

Tau Phi Zeta recognizes the academic achievement, scholarship, leadership, character and professional excellence of students in the college's veterinary medicine programs. To qualify for induction, students must achieve at 3.5 GPA and demonstrate a love of animals.

Eberle Named to Dean's List at Western New England University

51 students selected for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) at the University of New Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT (06/24/2015)(readMedia)-- Fifty one students at the University of New Haven have been selected to receive a $3,000 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship award. The SURF program is supported by a generous donation from Frank Carrubba '69, '79 M.S. and his wife, Pat. Since the program began in 2007, more than 130 students have been selected to participate. Students selected for SURF will submit a research proposal,conduct their research over the summer,submit a final paper and present their findings at a campus research symposium. The grant allows the students to work with UNH faculty over the summer on a research project and to live on campus.
