Town of Halfmoon Honors Active Servicemen on Yellow Ribbon Day
HALFMOON APRIL 8– Carol Pingleski Hotaling, the woman who started the movement for Yellow Ribbon Day spoke at the Yellow Ribbon ceremonies at the Town Hall. She thanked State Senators Farley , marchione and Assemblyman Tedisco for their efforts to Make April 9th recognized throughout New York State as Yellow Ribbon Day.

Waiting for Opening Day – by E. Skorupski
Two years ago, I was on the Hudson River in Catskill fishing for stripers on March 20th and I would be doing the same this year except DEC delayed the Opening Day from Mar 15 to Apr 1 in 2015 as part of new regulations aimed at increasing the Hudson River striper population.

World Day of Prayer – by Sandy McBride
In a gathering and tradition that is nearly 100 years old, our local churches will once again link hands around the world to celebrate World Day of Prayer on March 4 at 1 p.m. at the Stillwater United Church on North Hudson Avenue in the village. The first World Day of Prayer service was held on January 9, 1920 in Canada, followed five weeks later by services held in the United States. There are now 170 nations around the world that join in this moving ceremony that not only empowers women, but calls attention to the challenges, the problems and the trials they face every day.
