imageMargo is a super sweet petite 2-year old girl. Margo is an excellent and entertaining hunter making sure the house is completely bug free; jumping in mid-air to catch flies is one of her specialties. Margo is playful, gets along with all the other cats in the house and is friendly and lovable. She likes to sleep on the bed, loves to be petted and is sure to thank you with lots of purring. Margo has an unusual medium length tiger coat with some orange "highlights" and a beautiful black fluffy tail. Margo has had one litter of kittens and was a really great mom, but is now spayed (check out her cute babies on our website, Celia, Dodie and Benson) and looking forward to relaxing in her new furever home.Margo is spayed, current on her vaccinations and negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia.

 

image-1Check out Fiona's "Bette Davis Eyes" - a truly stunning 8 month old girl with bunny-soft fur. Fiona's favorite thing is "window shopping" for birds and squirrels. When's she's not stalking the wildlife from behind glass she is typically napping (yes, in the window and probably dreaming of squirrel soup). Fiona is very independent - happy to hang out on her own during the day she just wants a little bit of attention morning and night - except if you've got out the interactive toys which she absolutely goes crazy for! Fiona would do best if she is adopted by a family with a quiet home and would do great with a kitty companion. Because she was born wild she is cautious to accept new humans into her personal space and will need a loving new family willing to earn her trust— the rewards once you win her over are great — a massive purr, bedtime sleeping companion and lots and lots of leg rubs. Fiona has lived with other cats and dogs. Paul Tonko Takes Walking Tour of Waterford – by M. LeMay

 

WATERFORD AUGUST 14 –Congressman Paul Tonko, Chamber of Southern Saratoga County President/CEO Pete Bardunias, Chamber Ambassadors, and members of the Waterford Community Business Alliance took a stroll down Broad Street to see firsthand the hardworking businesses and business owners of downtown Waterford. First stop on the tour was The Dessert Tray, owned and operated by Tracy Zordan. Tracy has owned The Dessert Tray for a little over a year now but has been making desserts (her passion) for years. She chose Waterford as the location for her business because of her ties to the community. Tracey has lived in Waterford most of her life and is also a kindergarten teacher at the Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School.

Feast of the Assumption

MECHANICVILLE AUGUST 15 & 16- This year the Feast of the Assumption was expanded from one day to two. The extra day enhanced the Feast, it did not detract. Volunteer Jan Sylsvester reported that the Feast ran out of food on 7:30 Friday night. A total of 120 lbs. of dough had to be purchased just for the fried dough. Old favorite La Banda Rossa performed on Friday night. After 3 PM Friday Mass the Procession made its return this year.

This Month in the Civil War – by S. McBride

 

As the steamy days of August, 1864 beset the weary and battered soldiers and citizens of the war-torn United States, Petersburg and Atlanta, two of the most vital cities in the rebellious Confederate States of America, were surrounded by Union forces and under almost constant shelling.  A civil war which could have conceivably ended within months had now dragged on for more than three full years with a horrendous loss of life, grievous injuries and the costly destruction of property. Nearly every family, north and south, had been affected in some way. But the gritty rebels refused to give up.  They endured the dangers, the hardships and the suffering with dogged determination.

Fred’s Tents Moving to Halfmoon – by H. Wessell

STILLWATER and HALFMOON, August 12 ñ A hearing before the Saratoga County Industrial Development Agency will be conducted at the Halfmoon Town Hall on September 8 at 8AM, to review a request by longtime Stillwater manufacturer Fred's Tents for assistance with a desired move to an 84,000 square foot former warehouse in Halfmoon.

The building in question, a former Yankee One Dollar warehouse on Hudson River Road, at 84,000 square feet, is more than four times the size of the current factory on Rtes. 4 and 32 within the Village of Stillwater. That building, related founder and owner Fred Tracy, has itself seen several expansions as the company's business has grown since its founding in 1986. "Yes, we've put a couple of additions on; and just we're out of space ñ time to pull out."

Mary Ann Thomas Boord, R.N. – 72

SCHENECTADY – Mary Ann Thomas Boord, R.N., 72 of Nott St, died at home, Saturday, August 16, after being stricken.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 2216 Rosa Rd,Schenectady, with burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Mechanicville.Calling hours at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., Schenectady on Monday from 4-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to either NY chapter American Diabetes Assoc., Pine West Bldg 2, Suite 204, Washington Ave. Ext, Albany 12205, or NE Assoc of the Blind, 301 Washington Ave., Albany 12205 in loving memory of Mary Ann.

Mildred L. Wiley – 78

MECHANICVILLE – Mildred L. Wiley, 78, former longtime resident of this city, died Friday, Aug. 15th in Cooperstown, NY after an extended illness.

Funeral Service Monday at 2 PM DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St, Mechanicville. Burial in Stillwater Union Cemetery. Calling hours at the Funeral Home Monday from Noon till 2 PM. Remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army.

Bingo is a 3-year old neutered male American Bull Dog Mix who is up to date on his vacinnations and microchipped. He has a very sunny disposition and enjoys playing with tennis balls and will keep you laughing with his funny antics! Here he is with Steve Caporizzo on Pet Connection!
Bingo is a wonderful dog and is looking for someone that will understand his needs; he is deaf. Currently he is living in a home with several dogs (large and small). If you saw Bingo playing with the dogs he lives with, you would find it hard to believe he is deaf. He is trained to go into his crate and also knows commands for sit down and come. This is all done with hand signals. He needs someone to love him and with proper training he will continue to be the wonderful dog I know.

Hi, I'm Lucas and I am a super sleek, super soft 1-year-old teenage boy. I was adopted quickly as a kitten and really loved my family and they loved me too. We were so, so happy together but unfortunately they have something called "allergies". It's breaking their hearts for me to go to a new home, but I can't be responsible for so much sneezing. Here's a few things you should know about me: tuna is yummy but I don't like shrimp; the cat dancer is my favorite toy (check out all my moves); I'm great with children and used to have two of them ages 4 and 6; I'm a champion (friendly) cat wrestler; water fascinates me and so do sunbeams. I like to be up high and I also love to crawl under the covers! Are you ready for me? My bags are packed!

Clover is an 4-year-old gentle long-haired beauty. Clover is microchipped and lived on her own for a full year after accidentally getting outside. When found by HOPE, scrawny and starved, her elderly owner was unable to take her back; now she is looking for a new forever home. Clover is self-reliant: she enjoys affection but does not need constant attention. She likes to "see and be seen"; always nearby but not underfoot! Clover loves interactive toys and will often roll over on her back while playing —especially if she's had a little catnip! Overall she is relatively mellow and easy going. Clover would make an excellent companion in a quieter home without children.

All HOPE cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on their shots, and have tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV.
