Phyllis Tate grew up here in Mechanicville.  The daughter of prominent attorney Frank Tate and his wife, Phyllis, she was the third of four children. As a child, she liked to walk up the street to her dad’s law office in the Enzien block on the corner of Park Avenue and Main Street, where the two would discuss cases, debating the legality of both sides.

Solar Sal Arrives in Mechanicville – by T. Mahoney

MECHANICVILLE OCTOBER 13- On Tuesday afternoon the Mechanicville dock was used for a new purpose- to unload freight. Solar Sal the 40' solar powered boat designed by Dave Borton left Lockport, NY, 10 days before with 3 tons of cardboard he picked up from Cascade Paper. Solar Sal traveled the 300 miles on the Eire Canal in very cloudy and rainy weather.

7th Annual Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness

There is an air of hope, courage, support and celebration.  We have hope for all those battling cancer today; we applaud the courage of those whose daily routine is now built around treatment of the disease; we support wholeheartedly our friends, neighbors and family members as they fight the fight; and we celebrate those who have won the battle and can now be hailed as survivors.
