“Pink Elephant” in Waterford – by H. Wessell

The July 28 Town Board agenda meeting began earlier than usually, as as over two dozen neighbors of the one-time St. Anne’s Catholic School, many of them graduates with happy memories, had to talk with the Town board about a nightmare they are feeling right now.

The building at Vanderwerker and Grace Streets later became the Mill View Adult home for many years; then after being idle was purchased in last few years by  Scott Derry –who has gone so far as to paint the building pink as part of showing his evident unwillingness to submit to the requisite municipal processes for making it into, as he wishes, an apartment building.

No Malta Deputy Clerk for The Rest of The Year – by H. Wessell

MALTA, July 6 – The Town Board has been able to compensate for some of the about $25,000

it has lost in connection with the lawsuit by a now-former Deputy Town Clerk, involving treatment by the Town Clerk during her employment. It voted on this date to transfer from the Town Clerk’s budget to the General Fund $15,393 it would have paid the Deputy for the balance of this year – thus eliminating the position.

   $5,000 of that amount is the direct payment it agreed to make, after insurance, toward the $100,000 settlement with Jennifer Choudy, who left Town employment July 3 as part of the agreement.

Brown’s Beach Too Successful? – by H. Wessell

SARATOGA LAKE, July 3: On Friday morning Brown’s Beach was opened for the holiday weekend at 10:00AM; said Town Supervisor Edward Kinowski in “what we called a soft opening, to try for the summer to be open from 10 to 8, every day, because we think the summer hours are going to drive it."
