“Understanding Heroin and Opioid Abuse” will be held on Monday, February 5th from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Mechanicville High School Auditorium.

This educational community forum is sponsored by the Town of Halfmoon, City of

Mechanicville, Town of Stillwater, Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo, Mechanicville School District, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, Mechanicville Area Community Services Center, St. Luke’s on the Hill, and New Choices Recovery Center.

In an effort to provide an opportunity to inform and educate community residents about the risks of heroin and prescription opioid use, the signs of addiction and the resources available to help.

Halfmoon Supervisor Kevin Tollisen announced today that an educational community forum on heroin and opioid addiction will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Mechanicville High School Auditorium, Kniskern Avenue, Mechanicville, NY.

The community forum will feature a panel of experts including: Treatment Specialists, Physicians, Addiction Specialists, Law Enforcement, Community Partners and families of those affected. The forum will invite audience participation, input and provide real solutions to this problem. Sheriff Zurlo reports that last year there were 30 deaths from opioid overdoses in Saratoga County.

The Town of Halfmoon is proud to join together with the City of Mechanicville, Town of Stillwater, Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo, Mechanicville School District, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, Mechanicville Area Community Services Center, St. Luke’s on the Hill, and New Choices Recovery Center to sponsor this community forum. It will provide information, insight and resources that will help residents understand the heroin/opioid problem and how it impacts our community. This forum will educate individuals about the reality of this increasing issue in our community and provide real solutions. Addiction can happen to anyone,an y family, at any time. All residents are invited to join us for this free educational forum.

Other highlights of the evening include:

? Narcan training will be held from 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. anyone who wishes to receive free training on administering the drug, Narcan, must be present by 5:15 p.m.

? Prescription Take Back will be from 5:15 p.m.–8:00 pm. Residents can safely dispose of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

Stillwater BOE Accepting Letters of Interest

STILLWATER - The Board of Education of the Stillwater Central School District is accepting letters of interest from district residents who are willing to be appointed to and serve on the Stillwater Board of Education until May 19, 2015, when the school district will be having its annual budget vote and Board of Education elections. Letters of interest should include information that will assist the Board in selecting a qualified candidate. All letters may be submitted to District Clerk Mary Sgambati, Stillwater CSD, 1068 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater, NY 12170, no later than Friday, November 14, 2014.
