Mechanicville Reservoir Still Below Normal

MECHANICVILLE MAY 27- Water Treatment Plant Supervisor John Zullo reported that the reservoir as of Wednesday morning was down 2 feet below normal. Rainfall for the year is about 6" below average. The rain on Wednesday afternoon was about an inch so the reservoir is still down 5". As of Wednesday morning May's rainfall had been .4" compared to 2.2" last year.

TOWN OF MALTA, May 27 - The Malta Town Board will look into the possibility of grant funds to assure preservation and restoration of  what the Supervisor and other members last week called  “one of the few historic features that we have left in our Town:" the Dunning Street Cemetery.

MECHANICVILLE – Carl J. Calicchia, Sr., 92, of Van Ness Rd, died Tuesday, June 2nd at St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy, after an extended illness.

William “Bill” Gronczniak – 82

MECHANICVILLE - H. William “Bill” Gronczniak of Route 9p passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy on Thursday, May 28, 2015. He was 82.

Relatives and friends may call from 2-5:00pm on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. Elizabeth Fascia – 82

MECHANICVILLE - Four months after the passing of her husband and soul mate of 63 years, John, Elizabeth "Boopie" Fascia,82,died suddenly. Medical diagnosis aside, cause of death was a broken heart.

Four honorary degree recipients spoke during St. Lawrence University's Commencement, including award-winning songwriter Judy Hart Angelo, hedge fund pioneer John M. Angelo, chair of the Baseball Hall of Fame Jane Clark, and garden historian Peter Hatch.

Matthew Roy of Waterford, was given the Kintz Plastics Award, which is given to the graduating Manufacturing Technical Systems student who has the highest grade point average. The award is handed out by the Automotive, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering academic program.

Melanie Chapman of Clifton Park, was given the Academic Excellence in Anatomy and Physiology Award, which is given to a student who has shown particularly high achievement in the study of anatomy and physiology. The award is handed out by the Biology, Chemistry and Physics academic program.

Amanda Frodey of Stillwater, was given the Academic Excellence in Anatomy and Physiology Award, which is given to a student who has shown particularly high achievement in the study of anatomy and physiology. The award is handed out by the Biology, Chemistry and Physics academic program.

Jason Zeledon of Clifton Park, was given the Stephen L. Hyatt Award, which is given to the graduating students who have the highest academic average in sciences over their first three semesters of a degree program at Hudson Valley Community College. The award is handed out by the Biology, Chemistry and Physics academic program.

Kevin Pallozzi of Schaghticoke, was given the Eastman Kodak Engineering Award, which is given to a student studying in the area of civil, mechanical or industrial technology who exhibits outstanding academic achievement and is transferring or continuing his/her education. The award is handed out by the Civil, Construction, Industrial and Mechanical Technologies academic program.

Jessica Noeth of Waterford, was given the Forensic Science Award, which is given to the most outstanding graduate of the Forensic Science Studies graduating class. The award is handed out by the Criminal Justice, Forensic Science and Public Administration Studies academic program.

Jennifer Hoech of Clifton Park, was given the Proctor & Gamble Award for Excellence in Preventive Dentistry, which is awarded to a student who demonstrates outstanding achievement in the behavioral aspects of patient-centered care. The award is handed out by the Dental Hygiene academic program.

Arati Singh of Clifton Park, was given the Troy Dental Society Club Scholarship, which is given to a resident of the greater Capital Region who showed academic excellence in the Dental Hygiene program. The award is handed out by the Dental Hygiene academic program.

Alexander Wollyung of Clifton Park, was given the English Department Four L Award: Celebrating Language, Literature, Learning and Laughter, which is presented to a graduating senior in a Liberal Arts or Individual Studies program who has excelled in English. The award is handed out by the English, Foreign Languages and English As A Second Language academic program.

Kaylie Willsey of Valley Falls, was given the Award for Academic Excellence and Outstanding Service in the Broadcast Communications Program, which is given to the most accomplished student in the Broadcast Communications graduating class. The cash prize is made possible through a generous donation by the New School, Hudson Valley's partner in the delivery of the Broadcast Communications degree program. The award is handed out by the Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Broadcast Communications academic program.

Sarah Barnes of Clifton Park, was given the Award for Academic Excellence and Outstanding Service in the Fine Arts Program, which is given to the most accomplished student in the Fine Arts graduating class. The award is handed out by the Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Broadcast Communications academic program.

Rebecca Hankle of Johnsonville, was given the Patricia Jablonski Award for Caring, Compassion and Commitment, which is given to an outstanding student in the Nursing class in honor of emeritus faculty member Patricia Jablonski. The award is handed out by the Nursing academic program.
