No Malta Deputy Clerk for The Rest of The Year – by H. Wessell

MALTA, July 6 – The Town Board has been able to compensate for some of the about $25,000

it has lost in connection with the lawsuit by a now-former Deputy Town Clerk, involving treatment by the Town Clerk during her employment. It voted on this date to transfer from the Town Clerk’s budget to the General Fund $15,393 it would have paid the Deputy for the balance of this year – thus eliminating the position.

$5,000 of that amount is the direct payment it agreed to make, after insurance, toward the $100,000 settlement with Jennifer Choudy, who left Town employment July 3 as part of the agreement.

Waterford Names Tugboat of The Year

The Tug Cheyenne was built by Ira S. Bushey of Brooklyn in 1965 as the Glenwood for service on the NYS Canals. Like many canal tugs of her era, she was outfitted with a hydraulic pilot house that would raise for increased visibility, and lower to clear the bridges of the Canal System. In 1970, the boat was acquired by Spentonbush Towing and renamed Cheyenne.  Also in the 70's, Amerada Hess bought the boat.   Later, sold to Empire Harbor Marine which became "Albany Port Ventures."

In 2009, this single-screw, 1,800 hp tug was bought by Donjon Marine, one of the Roundup's long time sponsors.
