Spacial Dynamics Softball – by S. McBride

When they were told that the next phase of their annual 10 day summer conference at Spacial Dynamics Institute here in Mechanicville was going to be learning to play softball, fully half of the 100 participants groaned that they either don’t like baseball or can’t even throw a ball.  But, says instructor Heather Lanier of California, within five minutes of being shown the proper dynamics of throwing a ball, the skeptics had improved their abilities by at least 50%.

“Pink Elephant” in Waterford – by H. Wessell

The July 28 Town Board agenda meeting began earlier than usually, as as over two dozen neighbors of the one-time St. Anne’s Catholic School, many of them graduates with happy memories, had to talk with the Town board about a nightmare they are feeling right now.

The building at Vanderwerker and Grace Streets later became the Mill View Adult home for many years; then after being idle was purchased in last few years by  Scott Derry –who has gone so far as to paint the building pink as part of showing his evident unwillingness to submit to the requisite municipal processes for making it into, as he wishes, an apartment building.

Hoosic Valley Baseball Champions Recognized – by C. Barton

On Wednesday July 29th at 6pm the Hoosic Valley Booster Club sponsored a community celebration to honor the Hoosic Valley Boys Varsity Baseball team on winning the title of New York State Class C Champions for the second consecutive year. The community gathered at the Joe Bruno Stadium to celebrate together the victory of this years win. The event was sponsored and organized by the Hoosic Valley Booster Club. Bonnie Speanburg, President of the Booster Club facilitated the recognition program. She thanked the community for supporting the team and the ongoing efforts of the Booster Club. “We did this last year for the championship team and it worked out so well that we wanted to do it again," says Speanburg. On the morning of the event there were 203 guests registered to attend. There were two ticket price options to attend the event, both included admission to the Valley Cats game.

Rebecca Christoffel, of Clifton Park, NY, daughter of Ann and Thomas Christoffel. Christoffel majored in business administration. She participated in Women's Varsity Cross Country and Delta Delta G.

Jennifer Knapp, of Clifton Park, NY, daughter of Heather and Edward Knapp. At Hartwick, Knapp majored in psychology. She also participated in Honors Program.

Kathryn Daley Joins Tau Phi Zeta Honor Society for Veterinary Technology Students

CANTON, NY (08/04/2015)(readMedia)-- Kathryn Daley of Mechanicville, NY, 12118, was inducted into Tao Phi Zeta honor society during the Spring 2015 semester at SUNY Canton. Daley graduated from Mechanicville High School in 2011 and recently graduated from the Veterinary Technology Bachelor of Science program.

Tau Phi Zeta recognizes the academic achievement, scholarship, leadership, character and professional excellence of students in the college's veterinary medicine programs. To qualify for induction, students must achieve at 3.5 GPA and demonstrate a love of animals.

Lily is 4 - 5 years old. She has been fully vetted with shots and hw test and more. She is a little sweet heart and deserves a loving forever home. PeanutPeanut - This adorable baby is a brindle lab mix about 9-10 weeks old. She was found in the night drop box of a shelter in South Carolina. She was pulled by rescue and put into foster care until she could be vetted and transported up north. She has been fully vet checked now and given shots, worming and more. ANNUAL CARDBOARD BOAT RACES

Saturday, August 8th, 8am - 3pm (rain date August 9th) Fort Hardy Beach, Route 29, Schuylerville. New this year, Firefighters Challenge Race. Hudson Crossing Park presents a family fun day that’s free for spectators. Races 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Best photos opportunities 12 - 2pm.
