With both parents working full time in many contemporary households, there is less time to devote to the spiritual life of the family. It is a challenge for Christian parents to readjust our priorities and teach our children by living our faith, both inside and outside the home.

   Children love to anticipate, and to engage in ritual: when there are Nativity scene figures to move closer during the four weeks of traditional Advent; when Advent hymns are sung in the candlelight of a graceful Advent wreath, when blessing prayers are said around a Christmas tree.

2015 Thanksgiving Food Drive

MECHANICVILLE NOVEMBER 20- There were no cars in the showroom at Toyota of Clifton Park . It was filled with boxes and cans of for, and turkeys. Enough food and turkeys to feed 825 families. Michael Raucci, the General Manager of Toyota of Clifton Park and the man behind the Thanksgiving Food Drive, pointed out that families in Mechanicville, Stillwater, Halfmoon, Clifton Park, and Waterford will have turkey dinners thanks to the generosity of the community.

The horror that has transpired in France at this season of the year when our thoughts have turned to celebrating Thanksgiving, to time-honored traditions and happy gatherings of family and friends, reminds us of how tenuous peace is, of how tenuous life is.  So it is that once again, in 2015, we will experience a holiday tempered with sadness, with concerns and fears not only for our own future, but for the very future of the world.

   Have you ever considered that this aura of trepidation has become almost as traditional as the holiday itself?

BALLSTON SPA, November 16 – Heroin and other opiates are an insidious force in a society partial to instant gratification. Its use in the last decade or so has seen a boost from cheap heroin flooding parts of the USA, coming in from Mexico rather than the extensive -- and expensive -- higher quality sources in Central and South America.

Stillwater Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees – by Ian Lewis

Induction will happen on Wednesday, December 30. Boys basketball will be hosting the second night of their tournament that night. Inductees will be honored at half time of the Stillwater game, which starts at 7 against Schuylerville. Immediately following the the game, the new members will be honored and speak in the new cafeteria. The public is welcome to attend this event.

New Saratoga Battlefield Quarter Unveiled – by V. Gallagher

SCHUYLERVILLE NOVEMBER  Hundreds gathered\'a0 together at the Schuylerville High School auditorium on Tuesday\'a0 to witness the unveiling of the new Saratoga National Historical Park quarter. Barbara Fox, who worked with the Artistic Infusion program in conjunction with the U.S Mint, was chosen as the official artist.
