MECHANICVILLE AND STILLWATER, February 5 - Both communities' County Supervisors have expressed concern over the delay by Governor Cuomo in making any kind of decision about replacement of their communities' state assemblyman. Tony Jordan, who was the Assemblyman, was elected as Washington County District Attorney this past November.The holder of the local legislature seat has always been of great help to those communities.

And they could use a lot right now.

Saratoga County No To SAFE Act – by Harold Wessell

BALLSTON SPA: January 15 th Saratoga County Supervisors anticipate voting on Tuesday Jan. 22 to deny the State government permission to associate its name in any way implying it is sponsoring the unfolding next phase of the SAFE Act.

The County will refuse the State permission to use its County name, letterhead, address, logo or seal, nor of the County Clerk or Sheriff, for purposes related to enforcement of the Act.

What Does a County Supervisor Do? – by Harold Wessell

Folks may sometimes wonder what their supervisor does up there (or down) in Ballston Spa, besides what he or she does in the home community.

Most are assigned for each year to several standing committees, as well as a few regularly-meeting ad hoc committees, most of which meet once a month, usually during daytime.. In addition to their regular assignments, as they can find the time, but also to keep up with areas of county operations of perhaps particular interest, supervisors may sit in on other committees ñ but not vote. Any number of non-members may be seen on the sidelines of committee tables in any month.
