Hudson Valley Community College Foundation Awards Scholarships to Local Students
TROY, NY (05/25/2016)-- Nearly 200 of Hudson Valley Community College's top students were honored with a variety of academic scholarships recently. The scholarships celebrate the depth of student excellence across the college's more than 80 academic programs.
Those receiving scholarships include:
Lauren Brodeur of Clifton Park, who was given the Otto V. Guenther Scholarship. Brodeur is studying in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography academic program.
Brianna Castracani of Waterford, who was given the Second Chance Scholarship. Castracani is studying in the Individual Studies academic program.
Victoria Filkins of Waterford, who was given the Aimee Lynn Pyskadlo Memorial Scholarship. Filkins is studying in the Nursing academic program.

Demonstrating Academic Excellence, Local Students Named to Assumption College Dean's List
WORCESTER, MA (05/25/2016)-- Assumption College has announced that 561 students were named to the College's undergraduate Dean's List for the spring 2016 semester.
To earn a spot on the Dean's List, Assumption students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester. The Dean's List is announced twice every academic year, once at the completion of the fall semester, and again at the completion of the spring semester.
"The Dean's List is a recognition of students who have attained significant academic achievements," said Assumption College President Francesco Cesareo, Ph.D. "The College is proud to formally recognize its top scholars whose dedication, hard work and commitment to their studies, are forming them to become effective leaders whom others will seek to emulate.

Local residents graduate from Grove City College
GROVE CITY, PA (05/25/2016)-- The following local residents were among the 595 students who received degrees during Commencement exercises at Grove City College on May 14, 2016. Delivering this year's Commencement address was Dr. Ben Carson, renowned pediatric neurosurgeon and former 2016 Republican presidential candidate. The Class of 2016 was the second largest class in Grove City College history, coming in just shy of the 596-member Class of 2010. In recent years, the Grove City College's four-year graduation rate has climbed to 78 percent, while its six-year graduation rate has reached 85 percent. The average graduation rate in the U.S. is 59 percent.
