Student Athlete, not Athlete Student. Something that Mechanicville High School sports has proven as correct over the past year as many of our students were honored by NYS at the conclusion of the spring sports season as scholar athletes.
To attain this title and be recognized by the state, a team must have a percentage of its athletes with a 90 or above grade average. This past school year, Mechanicville had representatives from eight different sports teams. The percentage of students needed to meet the qualifications depended on the size of the sports team.

BATON ROUGE, LA (06/09/2015)(readMedia)-- Katelyn E. DiBenedetto of Clifton Park, N.Y., recently was awarded a Love of Learning award worth $500 from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi--the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. DiBenedetto is one of 80 recipients nationwide to receive the award.
DiBenedetto, a Ph.D. student in anthropology at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, plans to use funds from the award to alleviate travel costs to Cornell University to utilize their stable isotope laboratories.

MECHANICVILLE MAY 27- Water Treatment Plant Supervisor John Zullo reported that the reservoir as of Wednesday morning was down 2 feet below normal. Rainfall for the year is about 6" below average. The rain on Wednesday afternoon was about an inch so the reservoir is still down 5". As of Wednesday morning May's rainfall had been .4" compared to 2.2" last year.

MECHANICVILLE - Four months after the passing of her husband and soul mate of 63 years, John, Elizabeth "Boopie" Fascia,82,died suddenly. Medical diagnosis aside, cause of death was a broken heart.
