H.O.P.E. Pets for Adoption

DoraDora is a small (~ 15 lbs) Corgi/Chihuahua mix. This mature lady is seeking a new home because she outlived her human. She is such a love! She enjoys attention and being petted, but is not demanding; she is quite calm & reserved. Dora is crate trained and very well behaved. She gets along with other gentle dogs and seemed unfazed in the presence of cats. Her deafness is no problem for her, though since you can't call her, she should not be off leash unless fenced in. She may startle if she doesn't see you coming, but that is easily avoided with a little courtesy.

Dora is spayed and up to date on all of her shots. Her adoption fee would be waived for a qualified senior adopter (65+yrs).

To more information on, or to visit, Dora, please call Jeanette at 518-932-9155 or email netties1960@aol.com.

GabbyGabby is a spayed, ~ 4 year old Chihuahua who is up to date on her shots. She is very submissive and good with other dogs. Gabby's foster says, "She is precious. Very adoring and loving. Gabby is definitely paper trained and goes outside too."

MumMum is a spayed ~ 2-year old female who is up to date on all her shots. Mum is very friendly and gets very excited to see her people (could be you!). She is ok with other cats, though she can be a bit grumpy with them. She and her 3 babies (Tippy, adoptable HOPE cat, is one of her babies) were rescued from living in a store parking lot. Beautiful Mum deserves a safe and loving home.

AbbeyAbbey is a sweetheart and loves to be petted. She's a beautiful gray long-haired cat with a bit of white hair on her chest, belly and 4 paws. She is healthy, spayed and up to date in all her vaccinations. Abbey is approximately 2 years old. She likes to jump up on the kitchen counter at times but has been responding very well to a little spritz of water to keep her off. She is generally a calm cat and would be a great addition to any loving household.

Schaghticoke to Hold Tree Lighting – By Christine Barton

Schaghticoke-“Remembering those that can’t be with us this holiday season,” is the goal for the first ever tree lighting memorial that will run this year in Schaghticoke throughout the 2013 holiday season. The memorial is titled the “Radiant Peace Tree Lighting Memorial.” The trees will serve as a remembrance of loved ones that have passed. After much creative brainstorming, the committee unanimously agreed on this title because it best describes the sentiment behind the event, which is to “bring a sense of peace to the holidays that are sometimes a difficult time for people,” says Gabrielle Pruso, committee member. The event is made possible through the shared vision and combined efforts of the Hoosic Valley Community Partners and the Schaghticoke Entertainment Committee. The Radiant Peace Committee is actively working to design, develop and make this first ever event possible in the town of Schaghticoke.

Battle of Chattanooga – By Sandy McBride

Staggering losses by both sides in the Battle of Chickamauga in Georgia in September of 1863 had the leaders of both the United States of America and the rebellious Confederate States of America searching for answers.  127,000 men had converged on the valley of the Chickamauga River in the latter days of September in 1863, and more than 34,000 of them had been killed, wounded, captured or just gone missing.  It was the bloodiest conflict yet in a bloody civil war.

Mott Families’ Halfmoon Roots – By Lynda Brian

Halfmoon – “Let us be known by our deeds.” That was the family motto. Often when we think of billionaire families, we might think of the Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Fords and Carnegies. Their history of wealth and power transcend not only generations but entire eras of history. The Mott family, among the first self-made billionaire families in the US, is an exception to that rule.  Early in our nation’s history, the Mott family was just regular farmers. Zebulon Mott owned a farm deeded in 1795 at where Farm and Market and Pruyn Hill roads meet.
