Ernie Martin Honored – by Vince Gallagher

STILLWATER JULY 21 –Residents, friends and neighbors stopped by the Stillwater Village Board Room to honor their former mayor Ernest  Martin.   “I’m honored and I’m humbled…I’m proud of my accomplishments,” said Martin. Rick Nelson was elected  the new village mayor this past March. He and former Stillwater mayor David Rathbun were present to pay tribute to Martin, along with Senator Kathy Marchione, who  presented the former mayor with an official service award from the New York State Senate.

Mechanicville SD Hopes to Move Forward with Building Project – by Sam DeCelle

The Mechanicville Jr. Sr. High School/Elementary School is hoping to get a much- needed make over. School Superintendent Dr. Michael J. McCarthy and Chair Person John Taglione, of the Exploratory Facilities Committee, are working on a plan that could possibly lead to the building project in the district that would renovate many areas of the existing building.

Roosevelt’s Road – by Sandy McBride

The Battle of Saratoga from September to October of 1777 is recognized as one of the 15 most decisive battles in the history of the world. Indeed, it was a vital victory for Continental troops who stopped the invasion of British General John Burgoyne as he sought to put down the rebellion of those who would create their own nation from a cluster of English colonies. With the success at Saratoga, France recognized American independence and came into the war as an ally.

Schaghticoke Welcomes Small “Big Top” by Christine Barton

Schaghticoke- On July 23rd at 6pm the Zerbini family circus made their way to Schaghticoke. The crowd to enjoyed an evening under the “small” big top at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds. According to their history, the Zerbini Family Circus started entertaining crowds in the United States in the early 1990’s.

Rachael Shine earns Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

Monica Marra Named to UDallas Dean's List

IRVING, TX (07/24/2015)(readMedia)-- Monica Marra of Clifton Park, N.Y., has been named to the University of Dallas Dean's List for the spring 2015 semester for earning a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Marra is majoring in Theology.

Area students to attend SUNY Oswego

OSWEGO, NY (07/17/2015)(readMedia)-- More than 1,500 students have reserved places as freshmen at SUNY Oswego, including several local residents. Fall 2015 classes will begin Aug. 24.

OSWEGO, NY (07/24/2015)(readMedia)-- More than 640 transfer students have reserved places at SUNY Oswego for fall 2015, among them several area residents. Classes start Aug. 24.

Heath Mabeus of Madison Way in Clifton Park. He last studied at SUNY Albany, and plans to major in accounting at Oswego.

Zachary Melite of Old Coach Road in Clifton Park. He last studied at Hudson Valley Community College, and plans to major in human resource management at Oswego.

Friends and NEACA Members, Exhibitors …

 

We have just under 90 tables sold with one cancellation … still working on getting more … we will end up with over 100 or so … and it will be another nice Gun Show in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains hosted in the quaint little village of Old Forge.

There were a few other unforeseen conflicts from a few of our exhibitors … vacation, car broke down, can’t find a motel room under a hundred bucks … etc. … so, we still have room for a few more exhibitors at this, our ninth Old Forge, Recreation Center Gun Show and Adirondack Expo.  If you were here with us before you already know how relaxing the area is and that you never know where the attendees could hail from; from near and far is all I can guarantee.

If you haven’t been to our Old Forge Gun Show this is your opportunity to come on up as an exhibitor … or just as a buyer.  Mingle with the folks or reach out the car window and pet the deer that roam the village streets; buy or sell a gun, knives or other goodies and then rent a canoe and go fishing … or whatever, there is a lot to do and a lot to see in and around Old Forge.  And either way you come up on Route 28 is a nice scenic and pleasant drive.

Lots of good food, good folks and good fun … the old “speak easy” at the Van Auken’s Inne basement should be ready for this weekend unveiling … the new owners have been refurbishing the old 1920’s hot spot for awhile and now you can step back in time and have a good time … take the Train from Utica that stops right at their doorstep.  They will also be fixing the snack bar “fixin’s” at our Gun Show this weekend.

Call me if you want to exhibit or just show up for a visit … this weekend at the Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street, near Water Slide World, Old Forge.
