MECHANICVILLE – Franklin Delano Zecca, 75, of Green St., died at home, Thursday, Dec. 31st, after a brief illness.

Burial services for Franklin Delano Zecca, who died Thursday, Dec. 31st have been changed.A cremation entombment service with military honors has been set for Tuesday, Jan. 5th at 10:30 AM at the Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville. Those wishing to attend please meet at the Cemetery Visitors Center at 10:15 AM.

According to his wishes, there will be no other services.

Halfmoon-Waterford FD Delivers Toys – by M. LeMay

Halfmoon – On Sunday December 20th the Halfmoon-Waterford Fire District #1 were out spreading some Holiday Cheer throughout their district. Volunteer firefighters along with Chief Boudreau and many helpers were out all day into the evening driving through developments in their district surprising many kids with presents and stockings being delivered by Santa in a fire truck.

Popp Releases 3rd Jevic Book – by C. Barton

Town of Pittstown native and self-published local author Lisa Popp just released the third book in her Jevic O’Connor adventure series, Jevic and the Spear. Although the series was written for a young adult audience her books have captured readers of all ages and interests. Popp says, “while the series does have an element of fantasy, it is a well-grounded action adventure that breathes new life into old-world beliefs.”

Through the Hoosac Tunnel – by Chris Kelly

Last week I described a trip my husband and I took by train from Albany to East Deerfield, Massachusetts in the fall. The trip was unique as it was the first passenger train to pass through the 4.75 mile-long Hoosac Tunnel in over thirty years. For me the trip was also special as we passed all through the town of Schaghticoke by train- a really different way to view the town.
