Pets for Adoption – Adirondack Save-A-Stray
Border Collie mix puppies - These little peanuts come from a very high kill shelter in a rural area down south. They have been vet checked, vaccinated, wormed and more. For more info please call the shelter or come by to meet these and all our other babies.
Creamsicle - Meet Creamsicle, a very handsome and friendly 3 years old. He is neutered, has his shots and is vet checked. He was dropped off at our shelter as an unwanted pet. He is a wonderful boy that seems to be very affectionate.
Cutie Pie Bullies -These little babies were picked up off the side of the road just before a massive rain storm, luckily they are safe and sound at a fosters home now. These two cuties are 8 week old Pit Bull mixes, they have been vet checked, have their age appropriate shots and have been de-wormed. For further information on how to adopt or add these cute babies to your family please call the shelter at 518-654-6220.

STILLWATER OCTOBER 2- Jacob Henes scored 3 touchdowns and Marc DeBates scored 2 touchdowns to lead the Raiders. Henes scored on runs of 65 and 14 yards, and caught a 65 yard touchdown pass. He scored on a 2 point conversion run and kicked all 4 extra points. As a result he scored 24 points and was named Player of the Game.

Schaghticoke Harvest Festival – by C. Barton
Schaghticoke- On Saturday September 26th from 12noon to 4pm the Hoosic Valley Community Partners and the Schaghticoke Entertainment Committee hosted the annual community Harvest Festival at the Schaghticoke Town Hall. This same gazebo only a few short weeks ago was the platform for the many great bands that offered the community, “music in the open air,” with the Schaghticoke Summer Eve concerts.

A Ride Up Gore Mt. – by Sandy McBride
My grandfather, Harry Hosley, was a hunting and fishing guide at the northeast end of Racquette Lake for many years. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of the trips I made to his camp as a child, traveling through the Adirondack Mountains with my father in his 1949 Chevrolet coupe. This was before the Northway was even somebody’s great idea, when the trip of 130 miles was over two-lane state roads, mainly Route 9 and Route 28, up over Blue Mountain, until we reached Deerland. There we turned off onto a narrow macadam road to make our way the final 9 lonely and sparsely populated miles to the bridge of land between Racquette Lake’s Outlet Bay and Forked Lake where Grandpa and his second wife, Pearl, lived in the old Glassbrook house, a one-time lumber camp.

Stillwater Fire Department Celebrates 150 Years
STILLWATER SEPTEMBER 26- Elected officials and fire departments from throughout the region came to honor the Stillwater Fire Department. The following fire departments attended: Perth, Round Lake, Chatham, Schuylerville, Mechanicville, Hillcrest, Clifton Park-Halfmoon,West Crescent, and Arvin Hart, among others.

The Masters family of Schaghticoke was in sole control of the Schaghticoke Powder Mill from 1812 to about 1836. At that point, Wyatt R. Swift, who had come to town to run the Joy Linen Mill, made the switch from textiles to gunpowder.
