It was “community” at its best when the second annual Elks All-Star Basketball Event took place in the Mechanicville High School gym on Saturday afternoon. Planned and organized by Ashley Kucharski and Kaile Kenyon with the aid and support of Mechanicville/Stillwater Elks Lodge #1403, this event gives children with disabilities, challenges and limitations the opportunity to participate in skills-building exercises and drills on the basketball court, and have a whole lot of fun doing it. 37 boys and girls from our local communities . . .

Tomhannock Reservoir Clean Up – by C. Barton

Tomhannock Reservoir- On Saturday April 16th from 9am to noon the Rensselaer Land Trust (RLT) in partnership with the Hoosic River Watershed Association (HooRWA) will be holding the annual Tomhannock Reservoir Shoreline Cleanup Day. The mission of the RLT is to “conserve the open spaces, watersheds and natural habitats of Rensselaer County for the benefit of our communities and future generations.”  Both organizations partner annually with the local community to dedicate a day each year to clean up the shoreline of one of the areas major water sources.

Assemblywoman Woerner on State Budget

Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner (D-Round Lake) announced that the state’s final budget will lower taxes for middle-class families, encourage economic development, provide a record increase in aid to our public schools and fully eliminate the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) this year, as well as support agriculture and environmental conservation.

James V. Gardner – 57

GLENS FALLS – James V. Gardner, 57, of Ridge St., and former resident ofSaratoga Springs, passed away comfortably Sunday, Apr. 3rd at home.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Apr. 7th at 2 PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville.  Inurnment with military honors at the Saratoga National Cemetery.

Calling hours at the Funeral Home Thursday from Noon to 1:45 PM.

STILLWATER – Kathi A. Blinn, 63, of Major Dickinson Ave., died Monday, March 28, at Albany Medical Ctr. in the loving company of her family.
