DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home Named Business of the Year

Tom Salvadore related how he began by working part time in the early 70’s at funeral homes in the area. On October 30, 1976, the day Police Officer Paul Luther was killed,Dwight  Dunn asked Tom if he would be interested in going to college. Dunn suggested that Tom pursue the GI Bill. Which he did and earned his Associates Degree in Mortuary Science while working full time as a Police Officer in Mechanicville.

Junior Dante Club Celebrates 75 Years – by Sandy McBride

When you get the ladies of Mechanicville’s Junior Dante Club together, there is always laughter, teasing, bantering, remembering, sharing and planning.   And last week’s 75th anniversary celebration at Panza’s Restaurant on Saratoga Lake was no exception. With 44 of the group’s current 49 members present, President Pam Sgambati welcomed the members and special guest Sandy McBride. Pam distributed to all the members a dainty carnation pin, representing the group’s official flower, the white carnation, to be worn with their traditional Junior Dante club pins.

Domestic Violence Conference

Stillwater October 20- Congressman Paul Tonko and State Senator Kathy Marchione read off some statistics on domestic violence. “One is six woman is subject to stalking ;nationally there are 10 million domestic violence calls per year; one in four is impacted by domestic violence; one in five women is and one in seven men are struck by their partner.”
