If raining, it's going to be under a tent – and it's a large tent, so it should hold all the folks that come. TOWN OF MALTA, M arch 24___ –  A hit song by R.E.M. tells of  "The End of the World as We Know It ... (and I feel fine)."

– Not of the world, in this case; but of how things have been in a place nearby that calls itself  "The Center of the Universe."  Barring other factors such as a primary contest, this November may bring the “end” of the Malta Town Board and other officialdom as it's been known for some years ... and some people in Malta Town government may not be feeling fine.

Malta Town Board quick update, March 2 meeting:

A Public Hearing was held concerning Planned Development District (PDD) amendments being sought for  Luther Forest Technology Campus, enabling it to obtain local Saratoga County property  tax incentives, as well as any available state tax accommodations, if the financially troubled park is to attract other high-tech industries. It is said to be in the only site in the state  not allowed to seek them; this, according to  operator Luther Forest Technology Campus Economic Development Corporation (LFTCEDC). The hearing was adjourned (not closed) and statements will be received until March 16. No further action was taken. A board workshop to work on the amendments was set for April 20 at 6:30 PM.

The Town Board will hold a workshop on March 26, 6:30PM on proposed  Rtes. 9/67 rezoning.

A Public Hearing was set for April 6, 6:55PM, concerning the Saratoga Medical Park, on whether, per a stipulation in the PDD. Malta Ambulance Corps would need for some mitigation for all the calls that they will be getting because of the large building. The corps came back to the Town Board saying there was no problem; but the hearing was set for April 6, 6:55PM to accept the amendments.

Stillwater to Keep Old Town Hall – by H. Wessell

TOWN OF STILLWATER, February 5 – On Thursday, the Town board had an uncommon sort  of resolution presented by  Supervisor Edward Kinowski as the only agenda item: as it were, a “multiple-choice question.”

The choices were:

(A) retention of the old town hall for Town use, primarily as a new home for the Police Department, along with any additional  uses the Town Board should determine.

(B) Renting the building;

(C) Selling it outright.

   The Board chose to keep the building, and make any changes needed for police use.The board approved the option to retain for town use, first of all for the Police Department. Councilwoman Virginia Whitman voted no; Arthur Baker said he had intended to oppose, but  joined rest of the board on a yes vote.
