ANNUAL CARDBOARD BOAT RACES

Saturday, August 8th, 8am - 3pm (rain date August 9th) Fort Hardy Beach, Route 29, Schuylerville. New this year, Firefighters Challenge Race. Hudson Crossing Park presents a family fun day that’s free for spectators. Races 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Best photos opportunities 12 - 2pm.

Robert Dennis Warren – 62

COHOES - Robert Dennis Warren, 62, of Cohoes passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 28, 2015.

Relatives and friends may call from 2-5pm on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30am on Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the family plot in Millertown Cemetery, Johnsonville. Justen Roberts

Roberts: On Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at about 7 PM PO Craig Fifield received a report from a Village resident in regards to a safe being stolen from the residence, which contained two (2) handguns and a quantity of US Currency in excess of $11,000.00. PO Fifield and Sgt. R. VanBramer eventually through investigation located a suspect. The suspect, Justen Roberts, was eventually arrested and charged with the listed crimes. Felony Grand Larceny 4th, Felony Grand Larceny 3rd, Criminal Possesion of a weapon 4th. Both weapons were located buried near Lock 2 and are being held as evidence. He was arraigned in Waterford Justice Court by Justice D. Fusco and was remanded to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail/$40,000 bond.

7/18/15: Stillwater Police arrested Richard P. Sadlemire (age 49) of Stillwater and charged him with Resisting Arrest (misdemeanor) following an incident which occurred 7/15/15. He was released with an appearance ticket for Stillwater Town Court. The arrest was handled by 1st Sgt. Ray Cordani.

7/17/15: Stillwater Police arrested Christopher M. Wason (age 42) of Hoosick Falls and charged him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree (misdemeanor) following a vehicle stop on Cold Springs Rd for speeding. He was processed and released to appear in Stillwater Town Court. The arrest was handled by Ptl. Charles Rockwell.

7/21/15: Stillwater Police arrested Stephen M. Gregory (age 41) of Hudson Falls and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration (misdemeanor) following a vehicle stop on Route 67. He was processed and released to appear in Stillwater Town Court. The arrest was handled by Ptl. David Devito.

7/22/15: Stillwater Police arrested Dylan A. Posporelis (age 19) of Stillwater, Joshua J. Nelson (age 18) of Stillwater and Brandon T. Rozowicz (age 19) of Stillwater and charged them with Unlawful Possession of Alcoholic Beverages while under 21 years of age (violations) following an incident on Colonial Road. They were released with appearance tickets for Stillwater Town Court. The arrests were handled by Ptl. David Devito and Michael Sharadin.

7/23/15: Stillwater Police arrested Joe B. Thompson (age 58) of Johnsonville and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration (misdemeanor) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle (misdemeanor) following a vehicle stop on Route 67. He was processed and released to appear in Stillwater Town Court. The arrest was handled by Ptl. Sean Lyons.

Burdick (age 20) of Cambridge and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration (misdemeanor) following a vehicle stop on Route 76. Alexis Mone Earns Spring 2015 Dean's List Honors at Roger Williams University

BRISTOL, RI (07/29/2015)(readMedia)-- Alexis Mone, a resident of Mechanicville, NY, has been named to the Spring 2015 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Alexis is a Marine Biology major. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

Mrs. Barbara Ann Lawyer – 63

STILLWATER – Mrs. Barbara Ann Lawyer, 63, of County Route 70, died suddenly at home Tuesday, July 28th, after being stricken.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 4 PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Calling hours will precede the service from 2-4 PM on Saturday.

Jessie A. Sheldon – 71

VALLEY FALLS - Jessie A. Sheldon of North Street passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with her loving family at her side. She was 71.

Relatives and friends may call from 10-12 noon on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Hoosic Valley Community Church, 2024 Rt. 40 Schaghticoke. Funeral service will be in the church at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Memory’s Garden Cemetery, Colonie.

MELROSE - Robert Baldwin Campbell of Route 40 passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Barnwell Nursing Center in Valatie. He was 86.

Catherine A. Whitney McBride – 47

MECHANICVILLE – Catherine A. Whitney McBride, 47, of Round Lake Ave. died peacefully, early Wednesday morning, July 29, at Saratoga Hospital in the company of her loving family. Born in Troy, July 3, 1968, she was the daughter of Mary Scott Whitney of Burnt Hills and the late Charles R. Whitney who died in 1993.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 31 at 7PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 South Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118 with calling hours from 4-7PM prior to the service. Interment at the Saratoga National Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.

A Call to the Bullpen With Sam DeCelle – Does Pete Rose Deserve this Punishment?

Imagine this, a MLB Hall of Fame induction class that consisted of Pete Rose. Pete Rose, the all time hits leader, but proven guilty of betting on baseball during his playing and managing days.

When I say imagine it, I say that because as of now that will never happen. Rose was banned from baseball many years ago when he was found guilty of betting on Cincinnati Reds games back when he was a player/manager for the ball club. MLB rules forbid any players or managers from placing bets on the sport while they are active and involved in the game.
