On august 11th, 2015 a juvenile male was charged with 2 counts of petit larceny and 2 counts of criminal mischief 4th degree. A second juvenile male was charged with 2 counts of petit larceny in the same incident. Both juveniles were referred to Saratoga County Probation.

Stillwater Police arrested John H. Barling (age 46) of Saratoga Springs and charged him with Endangering the Welfare of a Child (misdemeanor) and Permitting Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle (infraction) following an incident which occurred in Stillwater.
On Saturday August 15, 2015, Stillwater Police were alerted by a civilian that a young child was observed operating a pick-up truck on Route 9P. Police were able to locate the vehicle a short distance away and stopped it. A ten year old child was found to be the operator. It was revealed during the investigation that the child’s father was intoxicated in the passenger seat of the vehicle. The child was turned over to a family member and the father was arrested. He was released with an appearance ticket returnable in Stillwater Town Court. Saratoga County Child Protective Services were also contacted by police. The arrest was handled by Ptl. Keith Clinton.

Stillwater Police arrested Christopher A. Peretz (age 18) of Stillwater and charged him with Aggravated Harassment 2nd degree (misdemeanor) and Criminal Mischief 4th degree (misdemeanor) following a domestic incident at a residence in which another person was physically harassed and a cell phone was damaged. He was processed and released to appear in Stillwater Town Court. The arrest was handled by Ptl. Michael Sharadin.

Kelleher (age 24) of Mechanicville and charged him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree (misdemeanor) following a vehicle stop on Route 4 for speeding. He was processed and released to appear in Stillwater Town Court. The arrest was handled by Ptl. Paul Pecor.

Stillwater Police arrested Amy H. Hoehn (age 33) of Saratoga and charged her with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration (misdemeanor) following a vehicle stop on Route 76. She was processed and released to appear in Stillwater Town Court. The arrest was handled by Ptl. David Devito.

Moshier (age 33) of Mechanicville and charged her with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration (misdemeanor) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation (misdemeanor) following a vehicle stop on Rt. 67. She was processed and released to appear in Stillwater Town Court. The arrest was handled by Ptl. Michael Sharadin.
Halfmoon Man Pleads Guilty to Intentionally Injuring Roxy the Dog
Saratoga County District Attorney Karen A. Heggen announced today that Scott M. Cusson, Jr. (dob 4/22/95) plead guilty in the Saratoga County Court to the charge of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, in violation of Agricultural and Markets Law Section 353-a(l), “Buster’s Law”, a class “E” felony, before Saratoga County Court Judge James A. Murphy, III. Cusson admitted that on February 9,2015, in the Town of Halfmoon, that “he intentionally caused serious physical injury to Roxy the dog”, with no justifiable purpose. Defendant Cusson acknowledged that he sprayed isopropyl alcohol on the dog and lit the alcohol, causing injuries to the dog’s face and ear.
The injuries were discovered several days later when the dog was finally taken to a local vet. The vet assessed the injuries and contacted the New York State Police in Clifton Park, who conducted a thorough investigation and identified Cusson as the perpetrator of the injuries.
DA Heggen stated that “this is a case of horrific injuries caused by the Defendant to an innocent animal. The photographs depict in ways words cannot describe the extent of the injuries suffered by Roxy the dog. My office was adamant that we would not plea bargain this case in any way. I am firm in my conviction to hold accountable people who harm innocent animals and I believe this cases provides justice today for Roxy”. Roxy was removed from the residence where this incident occurred and was subsequently forfeited by her owner and adopted locally by a loving and caring family.
The defendant is expected to be sentenced to a term of state prison when he is sentenced on September 25,2015 at 9:00 am.
Troy Arrest - Leonil
A Troy man is facing drug charges following a two month joint investigation by the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Albany, and Troy Police Department.
Theodore C. Leonil, 44, is being charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, one count of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and one count of fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
A search warrant was executed at 220 1st Street in the basement apartment in the City of Troy where investigators recovered 22.8 grams of heroin, 11.9 grams of crack cocaine, packaging materials, $3,670.00 of US Currency, and .45 caliber ammunition. The seized narcotics have an estimated street value of approximately $7,500.
Leonil is currently being held in the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
“The Sheriff’s Office will continue to partner with other agencies in an attempt to eradicate narcotic activity in Rensselaer County,” said Undersheriff Pat Russo.
