Hoosic Valley Showcases Musical Talent – by Christine Barton

RENSSELAER COUNTY -On January 29th the All County Winter Festival, hosted by the Rensselaer County School Music Association, was held at Averill Park High School.  In addition to other participating schools throughout Rensselaer County, Hoosic Valley had 22 students selected to participate in various musical ensembles throughout the day’s events.

Waterford-Halfmoon FD Dinner – by M. LeMay

HALFMOON – On Saturday February 6th The Halfmoon – Waterford Fire District No. 1 in conjunction with Halfmoon Fire Company, held its 91st annual inspection dinner at the Franklin Plaza in Troy. Two hundred plus attendees were on hand to enjoy the evening and to honor the fire fighters. Officers and Chiefs were sworn in by Halfmoon Town Supervisor Kevin Tollisen. Company officers were sworn in by Waterford’s Town Councilman Dave Ball.

MALTA AND BALLSTON SPA, February 1– The packed house  – including some who had to stand for almost an hour - at Malta Town Hall on February 1 for a crucial public hearing on zoning changes – proved an opportunity for lots of folks to hear about something else new in the community.

Theresa A. “Terry” Fiorino – 72

WATERFORD – Theresa A. “Terry” Fiorino, 72 of 1st Street, died Monday Feb 8th at St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy, after a brief illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 9:30 AM at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial in Saratoga National Cemetery.

Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Thursday from 4 – 7 PM.

MECHANICVILLE - Jeanne E. Tarsa, 87, died on February 8, 2016  after a brief illness.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at All Saints on the Hudson South Church 121 No. Main Street, Mechanicville.  Burial will immediately follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Mechanicville.  Calling hours  for relatives and friends will be from 4 - 7PM on Wednesday at the No. Main St. Church.
