Rocco is a sweet boxer/bulldog mix (DNA test) who weighs ~ 50 pounds. He is 8 years old, neutered, completely vetted, and microchipped. Rocco loves to curl up on the couch and enjoys when his human is nearby. He is generally low key; in fact, he can seem a bit aloof at first, but only because he needs time to trust that you will not give up on him. Rocco is housebroken and will let you know when he needs a potty break. When necessary he can easily be crated, although he has not been left alone for extended amounts of time. A fenced-in yard is a must because Rocco deserves to run and play outside. Rocco should be an only pet - he needs to be with a family that focuses solely on him. In fact a one-on-one situation or an older couple might be best for him. He is smart and affectionate and will be devoted to you if you give him a chance.

Harper is a very confident 2 year-old little lady. She enjoys sleeping in the sun all day and curling up on soft bed covers. She loves playing with anything and everything left to her for toys. She enjoys chasing bugs as her little hunter self. Harper is a little shy and quite independent preferring the other cats to people, although sometimes she will follow you around until she gets what she wants (dinner or toys or a quick pet). She would be perfect for a family that is looking to find a companion for an existing pet or a family that would like to adopt more than one cat. Harper is up to date on her vaccinations, spayed and has tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia.

For more information, please contact her foster mother, Karla, at redefinedesign@excite.com

Princess Leia is a little shy when you first meet her but once she gets to know you she loves attention. She has extremely soft fur, is gentle and relatively quiet. Princess Leia is good with both dogs and cats and would do well with older children.

Ellie has been with HOPE for about one year — last fall she came in with her two kittens Fiona and Crowley (now already 1 year old themselves). Ellie needed some time to get used to living with people but is now ready for adoption. She is very shy but friendly once you get to know her....interactive playtime and food is the quickest way to her heart. Ellie is hoping for a quieter home where she can interact with adults in a gentle and easygoing environment. If you are looking for quiet cat that likes to lounge about near you and keep you company but doesn't need a fuss made over her then Ellie might be just the cat for you. She does like a bit of interactive play each day. Ellie will need some patience at first while she gets used to her new family but will make a really great pet for the right home.

Ellie is spayed, up to date on her shots and negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia.

Tubbs and Ash. Another sad story and way too long to get into. We can only say that these guys were thrown out of their home into the cold. I can't imagine the fear that they felt after being inside on their favorite chair to one day face the harsh reality that they could not be indoor kitties anymore. ASAS could not leave them outside. We are filling up very fast and need adoption of our older kitties or else we will not be able to take in and give safe haven to more babies left out in the cold. Please come and adopt. These guys are up to date on vaccines and spayed and neutered. For further information on how you can rescue a kitty you can call the shelter at (518) 654-6220photo 1 Amelia Tubbs Ash

Leah is a spayed female Brittany Spaniel/Cattle Dog/Pit Mix who is approximately 3 years old. She is up to date on her shots and microchipped.

Leah's foster mom writes:
Since Leah has been living us, it has become very clear that she is potty trained, walks well on a leash, and is knowledgeable of the commands sit, lay down, stay, and shake (possibly more). She is friendly with all humans, and she likes our 2 kittens; however she is more timid with dogs (work in progress). Leah is crate trained but would prefer nothing more than to snuggle right up next to (or on top of you) in bed at night. She is FULL of puppy kisses and hugs. Leah would thrive in a family that enjoys taking her for long walks or even runs, and a family that has a place where Leah can run around, play fetch, and sunbathe. Leah would be a fantastic addition to any family looking to receive some serious puppy loving.

Calling all couch potatoes!!! This chunky monkey is ready to plop down beside you. Bailey loves to be scratched and prefers to be right near you all the time, normally on the sofa, where he likes to sleep half-on/half-off your lap (at 17 pounds he's almost too big to fit all the way). When really happy he will roll around on the floor and "rough-house"— occasionally giving little love-nips if you get him too excited. When scared Bailey will vocalize with a soft growl, he has never been aggressive, that's just him letting everyone know that it's "personal space" time. His favorite food is dry kibble although he does like to lick up the gravy in canned food. Overall Bailey is a gentle and loving cat. He would probably do best in a quiet house without children however he is good with other cats.

All HOPE cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on their shots, and have tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV.

Aster is a gorgeous and very unusual bright green-eyed petite calico lady — she has lovely very distinguished orange, black and white markings along with an "orange tabby" back leg. Aster has a very loving nature and enjoys rubbing against your legs and making sure she's always nearby. This lady is very friendly to everyone. She has been very busy raising her four kittens but when she's taking a break from being mom she's playful and curious about everything. Aster gets along very well with the other cats and dogs in her foster family. With her easy going and friendly personality, she would do well in almost any home. Aster is 2-3 years old.

As of October 2014, Aster is not yet spayed but will be before she is given to her new family (we are just letting her nurse her kittens a little more even though they are already weaned)!

Aster is up to date on her shots and is negative for FIV & Feline Leukemia.

Can this picture be any more purrfect? From left to right —

Elliot, Chester, Baxter, and Dexter. These cute guys have been learning how to eat crunchies, groom themselves and be independent little cats and are now ready to leave their mom, Aster, and find new families. All four kitties are sweet and friendly with fairly similar personalities. Baxter is a little more adventurous than the rest and Chester is a tiny little runt that was sick in his first few weeks of life but is now perfectly healthy. For some reason Elliot loves to snuggle upside down and Dexter is your all-around easy going kinda guy! If you want to come meet this litter just put in a request for Aster's kittens and we can update you on who is still looking for a home! (Just a reminder - these guys have blue eyes now but they will probably change to green or golden when they get a little bigger).

These little guys are neutered (all except Chester who was too small as of 10/21...but he will be soon), up to date on shots and negative for FIV & feline leukemia.

Hi my name is Scooby. I'm a 2-1/2 year old, purebred Golden Retriever. I'm neutered (ouch!), up to date on vaccines, tested negative for heartworm and lyme and microchipped. I was surrendered from my previous home because I didn't like the other dogs going near my food dish and bones. I need to go to a home where I am the ONLY dog, please! In my former home I lived with cats and kids and my foster family has cats and kids too (the kids are all over 10 and I really LOVE them). I'm OK with the kitties, but they need to stay out of my food bowl and away from my bones (but, if you have kitties for me to live with, I'd be OK with giving up bones).

I LOVE people - I LOVE attention - I LOVE to play! I'm a great dog!

Scooby is neutered, up to date on his shots, and microchipped.

Scout is an ~ 4 year old Golden Retriever who is a a really nice dog. Scout who needs a special family - please read all about him!
Scout is a lone wolf - he needs to be the only four-legged child in the home (no cats or other dogs). If you have kids (the two-legged variety), he's great with them. His foster mom says he's great with her kids (all age 10 and over). A fenced yard is a must - Scout can't be out loose as he doesn't like other dogs. So if you have little ones who may let him out, he's probably not the dog for you. Please read on.........
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, please don't give up on him! Scout is a really a loving dog - LOVES people and LOVES playing football - and will toss the ball back and forth to you. Swimming? YAY! Playing drop the football in the pool and swimming combined is the best! Scout will be a super companion in the right home!

Scout is neutered, up to date on his shots, and microchipped.

Crowley is an absolutely gorgeous green eyed 1-year-old boy that was rescued as a kitten from a woodpile and a life of fending for himself outdoors.
