MALTA, June 18 - The Malta Community Center is not simply a physical facility, but somewhat a tip-of-the-iceberg ñ a pretty expansive iceberg, at that ñ as the nerve center of the Town's Department of Parks, Recreation & Human Services.
The Mission Statement reads: "To enhance the quality of life in our community, the Town of Malta Parks, Recreation & Human Services strives to be a leader by providing exceptional programs, facilities and services." As part of comprehensive planning, the Town has striven to provide recreational diversity and enhanced community services. In 2008 the building, built in 2000, was expanded to 20,000 square feet, so as to become an intergenerational center providing social, health, recreational, cultural and educational opportunities. It is also home to an increasingly busy Town Library.
