Jennifer Edwards of Johnsonville Honored By Phi Theta Kappa Academic Honor Society

TROY, NY (01/31/2018)-- Jennifer Edwards of Johnsonville was one of four members of the Hudson Valley Community College student body selected to receive the USA Today Phi Theta Kappa - All New York Academic Award earlier this month.

Edwards is studying in the Early Childhood academic program.

A total of 12,594 students enrolled during the 2017 fall semester at UA were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

UAlbany Names Living-Learning Community World Representatives

ALBANY, NY (02/01/2018)-- World Representatives are students who were selected in fall 2017 to serve as peer leaders in the University at Albany's Living-Learning Communities (L-LCs). These students were identified and nominated by their L-LC faculty mentors and upperclassmen for having demonstrated leadership within their communities.

World Representatives serve on an advisory board to Student Engagement throughout the academic year, communicate feedback from their peers to Student Engagement to improve the L-LCs, and help plan and facilitate social activities for L-LC students. Student Engagement, housed in the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, selected 47 freshman World Ambassadors for the 2017-2018 year.

STILLWATER - Deborah Jean Taven-Czuwala passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany after a long illness. She was 59.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of her family.

Retired Town Justice Francis D. “Frank” Loszynski

Johnsonville, Rensselaer County – Retired Town Justice Francis D. “Frank” Loszynski, longtime resident of Johnsonville and most recently of Loudonville, passed away peacefully at the Loudonville Assisted Living Residence on Friday, January 26, 2018 with his loving family at his side. He was 90.

Relatives and friends called from 5-8:00pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Fr. George Fleming at 11:00am on Thursday, February 1 at Transfiguration Parish, North in Schaghticoke. Burial with military honors will be in the spring at St. John’s R.C. Cemetery, Schaghticoke.

STILLWATER – Linda Sue Celeone of Stillwater, more recently of Saratoga Springs passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018. She was 76.

EASTON - John Brian Beecroft “Jack” passed away quietly at his home after a long illness the morning of January 29, 2018. He was born in Stillwater on September 18, 1924 to John Arthur and Hazel (Conner) Beecroft.
