MECHANICVILLE – Catherine “Kate” Russo Izzo, 90, of Saratoga Ave., died Tuesday morning March 12th at Maplewood Manor, after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born June 1, 1922, daughter of the late Salvatore and Frances Parente Russo, she was a 1940 graduate of Mechanicville High School and had attended Oneonta State College.

MECHANICVILLE – Mary R. Genevick, 94, longtime resident of Upper Newtown Road, died Tuesday morning, March 12th at her daughters home in So. Glens Falls, in the company of her family, after a short illness. Born in Mechanicville, Oct. 30, 1918, she was daughter of the late Angelo and Anna Dragonette. She and her late husband, Frank J. Genevick, who died Dec. 9, 1994, spent many happy years wintering in Florida.

MECHANICVILLE, March 6 – The City of Mechanicville, has already promoted the concept of the Champlain Canalway Trail Waterfront Revitalization Plan and other planning efforts.
The Council has voted to continue to participate in collaborative planning and implementation efforts for the CCT, and to serve on the Action Plan's "Working Group,” regularly reporting back to the City Council regarding the progress toward achieving the goals of the Action Plan.
The Champlain Canalway Trail is one of four in New York State's Canalway Trail System and at 58 miles (when completed) is the second longest – Erie, 365 miles; Oswego, 37 miles; Cayuga-Seneca 22 miles. Its purpose is to complete and promote an attractive and continuous route for the Champlain Canalway Trail from Waterford to Whitehall, including: historic towpaths, community attractions, on-street bicycle routes, as part of a regional trail network

TOWN OF STILLWATER, March 7 -- Town Supervisor Edward Kinowski is seeking to have some conversation with townspeople, about whether they would like to see the Town purchase a long idled, favorite family spot for Stillwater, Mechanicville, Malta residents: Brown's Beach.
The Supervisor first asked the question at the March 7 Town Board meeting, which had low attendance due to the weather, about any thoughts of again enjoying "a little jewel up on Saratoga Lake, known as Brown's Beach," should the Town entertain an option to purchase it.

MECHANICVILLE – Michael D. Holder, 59, of Van Vranken St, Schenectady, died suddenly Friday evening, March 8th, at Ellis Hospital, after being stricken at home. Born in Vallejo, Ca. November 14, 1953, he is son of Mertie Izzo of Las Vegas, Nv. and the late Tony Izzo and Horace Holder. Mike grew up in California and moved to the Capital District in the early 1980’s.
Currently a warehouseman for Wal-Mart of Rotterdam, he had also been a selector for Sysco of Halfmoon for almost 20 years.

Lynn Robinson (Linda Whalen), born July 8th, 1951, formerly of Hemstreet Park, and recently of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away on February 3rd, 2013 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Lynn died of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and had suffered with it for many years. Lynn was buried in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff, KY with full military honors.
Lynn was a 1969 graduate of Mechanicville High School and Colonna Beauty School in Albany, NY. She enlisted with the New York State Army National Guard in 1977 and had various assignments, including a security detail during the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, NY.

MECHANICVILLE – Ralph “Eddie” Natalie, 60, former resident of Mechanicville, died suddenly Monday, March 4th at Knox Woods, Halfmoon, of a heart attack.
Born in Troy, November 6, 1952, he was the son of the late Vincent James and Irene Natalie, was educated in Mechanicville schools. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps.
A machine operator with the General Electric of Schenectady for a number of years, Eddie was a talented wood worker, who enjoyed music, movies and had once been a Harley Davidson motorcycle owner.
