Local SUNY Potsdam Student-Athletes named to Fall SUNYAC All-Academic Team

POTSDAM, NY (02/12/2016)-- The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named 53 SUNY Potsdam student-athletes to its All-Academic Team for the Fall 2015 semester, the conference announced Wednesday, Feb. 10. Players named to the all-academic team have a minimum 3.3 GPA for the semester. Here is a list of the local athletes that compete for the Potsdam Bears.

Sarah Erno of Mechanicville (12118) is a Freshman member of the SUNY Potsdam Women's Soccer team.

Madison Mahar of Mechanicville (12118) is a Sophomore member of the SUNY Potsdam Women's Soccer team.

SUNY Potsdam athlete Madison Mahar earns SUNYAC Fall Commissioner's List recognition

POTSDAM, NY (02/12/2016)-- Madison Mahar, a resident of Mechanicville, N.Y. was one of 28 SUNY Potsdam student-athletes to earn a spot on the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Commissioner's List for the Fall 2015 semester, the conference announced Wednesday, Feb. 10.

Mahar is a Sophomore member of the SUNY Potsdam Women's Soccer team. Players named to this list have carried a minimum 3.3 grade-point-average over three consecutive semesters at Potsdam.

 

Local Students from Hudson Valley Community College Named to Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities

TROY, NY (02/16/2016)-- Local college students studying at Hudson Valley Community College were recently honored by acceptance in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.

Who's Who students are chosen by a campus nominating committee for this honor based upon academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and continued potential for success.

Those honored include:

Stephen Hatalla of Clifton Park. Hatalla is studying in the Electrical Construction and Maintenance academic program.

Abigail Radliff of Stillwater. Radliff is studying in the Business - Marketing academic program.

Matthew Roden of Johnsonville. Roden is studying in the Criminal Justice academic program.

Erica Shudt of Melrose. Shudt is studying in the Liberal Arts & Sciences - Humanities & Social Science academic program.

Robert VanNess of Clifton Park. VanNess is studying in the Engineering Science academic program.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute Announces Fall 2015 Dean's List

WORCESTER, MA (02/15/2016)-- The following local residents were among 1,238 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2015 semester.

Kimberlee Kocienski of Schaghticoke, N.Y., is a member of the class of 2017 majoring in mechanical engineering.

Mary Vierling of Waterford, N.Y., is a member of the class of 2018 majoring in aerospace engineering.

Local Student, Allison Reinhardt, Named to Dean's List at Saint Joseph's University

PHILADELPHIA, PA (02/12/2016)-- Allison Reinhardt, of Clifton Park, NY (12065), earned Dean's List honors at Saint Joseph's University for the Fall 2015 semester. Reinhardt studies Professional Studies at the University. Students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above, a B or greater in all their classes, and complete at least 15 credits to earn dean's list status for a semester.

Local Student Elected to Phi Beta Kappa at Hamilton College

Clinton, N.Y. — Rachel V. Beamish, daughter of James and Teresa Beamish of Melrose, was recently elected to the Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at Hamilton College.Phi Beta Kappa, which established a chapter at Hamilton in 1870, is the oldest and most prestigious honor society in the country.  Students are elected to membership in recognition of their exceptional academic achievement in fulfilling the goals and purposes of the college.Beamish, a senior majoring in classical studies and English, is a graduate of Hoosic Valley Central School.
