Halfmoon Town Supervisor, Kevin Tollisen, announced today that the Halfmoon Girls Softball will hold its grand opening and ribbon cutting at the Woodin Road Softball Fields this Sunday, June 14th at 9am. The grand opening of the Woodin Road Girls Softball fields is finally realized through the hard work and cooperation of the Town of Halfmoon, Halfmoon Baseball, and Halfmoon Girls Softball. Supervisor Kevin Tollisen stated that this “new permanent home” for Girls Softball is a tremendous benefit for the youth in the Town and surrounding communities.
Over the past few months, Supervisor Tollisen also stated that there have been a number of larger improvements to the softball fields. The Town installed new outfield fencing on the large field, created a new field with backstop and fencing, replaced and added drainage culverts, repaired and topped the parking area with fresh stone, freshly painted the concession stand, skinned the existing fields, and installed new bases.
Community minded organizations also contributed their labor to help convert the fields for Softball. The Brickman Group contributed a number of volunteers to help redo the infields on the fields. Siena Fence contributed the materials and labor to rebuild the batting cages. Bast Hatfield and its partners built new dugouts for the softball league.
