Joyce Margaret Cary – 64

Joyce Margaret Cary of 10th Avenue passed away on Thursday, November 14 at her residence with her loving family at her side. She was 64. Joyce was born on April 30, 1949 in Troy, daughter of the late G. Lucius and Jean (Pratt) Cary, Jr.

She attended Rensselaer-Columbia-Green BOCES special education programs until 1970. She worked at the Menands Workshop (Northeast Career Planning) from 1971-2010, retiring on her 61st birthday. After her retirement, until recently she attended Brunswick Center Services.

She is survived by her beloved sister Karen Cary of Philadelphia, PA, brother Donald (Carol) Cary of Schaghticoke and Diane (John) Svatek of Schaghticoke. Also survived by four nieces, three nephews, three great-nephews and numerous cousins.

Her family would like to thank the ARC of Rensselaer County, especially the loving caregivers at her group home, who have provided Joyce with many opportunities and outstanding support over the years, and who consistently have encouraged Joyce to be, and to do, her best. Relatives and friends may call from 4-7pm on Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. A memorial service will take place at a future time to be determined by her family. Private burial will be in Easton Rural Cemetery.
