SCHAGHTICOKE - Roger Brackett Vickery of S. Linden Street passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. He was 72.
Born in North Adams, MA on February 17, 1941, son of the late Charles and Eva Adelaide (Holt) Vickery. He is the husband of Yvonne (LaRock) Vickery whom he married on November 5, 1989.
Roger attended Hoosic Valley Central Schools and was proud of his service with the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a supervisor for General Motors in Freemont, CA and locally he worked at Deer Run Campgrounds until it was sold and he continued on to work for Douglas R. Dyer and Son Construction Co. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge #1403 and member of the American Legion Post 731, Schaghticoke. Roger was an avid hunter and loved being outdoors.
Survivors in addition to his wife Yvonne include his sisters, Dona (Earl) McLaughlin of Plymouth, MA and Jacklyn Dyer of Melrose, his brother Robert Vickery of Stillwater and his children Roger Vickery, Paula Abrain, Robert Vickery and Catherine Schollard all of MA, sister-in-laws Norma Vickery and Mildred Vickery both of Mechanicville as well as 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his brother Charles Edward Vickery and his twin brother John Vickery.
Relatives and friends may call from 10-11am on Monday, August 19 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville. Funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11am. Interment will follow in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with military honors.
