Mechanicville’s Firemen Who Went to War – by S. McBride

Whenever someone shares a book or booklet with me from years ago, a hidden treasure they’ve found among their family’s possessions, I am delighted. So it was when Scott Smith recently dropped off at the Express office a booklet from the 58th Annual Convention of the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association which was held here in Mechanicville on June 26, 27 and 28 in 1947. But this booklet has even more meaning, more poignancy, than the usual commemorative publication.

Momentive Makeover at MACSC – by T. Mahoney

MECHANICVILLE OCTOBER 10- Eighty Momentive Performance employees were at the Community Center to put finishing touches on their volunteer work . This day was called " The Day of Caring." Every year Momentive, located in Waterford, looks for a project where it can make a difference. Twenty projects were submitted to Momentive. Because of the diversity of work to be done and the fact that many employees live in Mechanicville, the Community Center was chosen.In July Momentive made the decision to do a "Home Makeover " type operation at the Community Center.
