Jack Byrne and MACSC Honored by Chamber – by P. Bardunias

It sure seemed to be Mechanicville’s night at the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County’s (CSSC’s) “Chamber of the Year” Awards Dinner this past March 26.  Of the seven awards given, Mechanicville factored heavily by winning four of them and having one runner up.

Jack Byrne Honored at Economic Summitt – By Tom Mahoney

MECHANICVILLE OCTOBER 3-  Jack Byrne was the honoree of the Mechanicville Economic Summit as the Businessman of the Year. After being greeted with a standing ovation from the filled to capacity audience of 235 at the Elks , Jack made a few remarks. He then turned the proceedings over to his grandson Michael Petronis. He shared these thoughts about John Francis Byrne.

He attended Whipple Grammar School  and then Knickerbocker Junior High in Lansingburg. At the age of 9 he started his career as a paperboy. His route of 50 customers grew to 125. At the age of 13 he worked at Ward's Variety Store, now Testo's Restaurant in Troy.
