Union College announces fall student athletes

SCHENECTADY, NY (09/27/2016)-- Meet the Union College students who are participating in fall sports at the College.

Alyssa Bonesteel, of Melrose, NY is a member of the women's volleyball team.

Jeff Taylor, of Clifton Park, NY is a member of the men's ice hockey team.

Valerie Taylor, of Clifton Park, NY is a member of the women's soccer team.

SUNY Canton Celebrates its 2016 Incoming Class

CANTON, NY (10/03/2016)-- Nearly 700 first-time full-time freshmen began their studies at SUNY Canton for the fall 2016 semester.

"Our newest students are now actively engaged in their classes and everyone is commenting on what a wonderful addition they are to our campus," said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. "We are all very glad that they chose SUNY Canton."

The college offers 22 bachelor's degree programs, 21 associate degree programs, and five professional certificate programs. Additionally, nine of the college's bachelor's degrees are fully online.

Among those students who recently began their SUNY Canton education are:

  • Samuel D. Lawrence, a SUNY Canton Law Enforcement Leadership major from Halfmoon, NY, 12065. Lawrence is a 2016 graduate of Shenendehowa Central School.
  • Anthony P. Clements, a SUNY Canton Civil & Environmental Engineering Technology major from Mechanicville, NY, 12118. Clements is a 2016 graduate of Mechanicville High School.

Town of Halfmoon Honors Active Servicemen on Yellow Ribbon Day

HALFMOON  APRIL 8– Carol Pingleski Hotaling, the woman who started the movement for Yellow Ribbon Day spoke at the Yellow Ribbon ceremonies at the Town Hall. She thanked State Senators Farley , marchione and Assemblyman Tedisco for their efforts to Make April 9th recognized throughout New York State as Yellow Ribbon Day.

Schaghticoke Troop Honors Girl Scout Tradition – by C. Barton

SCHAGHTICOKE - The mission of the Girl Scouts reads, “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.” Girl Scout Troop #1891 based out of Schaghticoke lived out this mission by celebrating Girl Scout week with a variety of activities that took place throughout their community.
